I'm not picking on the Q but I find the price of chocolate cancy and treat, along with cookies just outrageous in price. I try to buy several people some treats for the holidays but now, I cannot as I am on a fixed income.

How will you afford your sweet treats for others?

The manufacturers are "claiming" that the high prices are due to "bad weather" in Africa.     Same goes for coffee...

I can't afford sweet treat for others, pricing it too high.

I know everything has gone up, but, the Q is overpricing, they're a large enough company who can lower prices and still make a fortune.

I purchasedtwo  nice european chocolate candy at Costco, and I'll give one to the painter who is  here and another to a handyman. They all have sweet tooths and children.

I purchased two, both in small Christmas bags.

That is the extent of my christmas shopping and only because I went in to buy T paper.

@Puzzle Piece  If you are shipping food, it's always expensive. Shipping prices are at the mercy of fuel prices, and they are sky high. I can buy David's meltaways at Costco for less than half the price. Fortunately, I can hand deliver the cookies to my friends. Are your recipients nearby? If so, it's better to buy local.

I bought my DIL's parents the Squirrel silver coated toffee almonds and am shipping them for Christmas. They live across the state, so it makes sense. I also got the Lindt TSV earlier this year to send to my MIL's nurses' station. When weighed against local chocolate prices, packaging and delivery, it was a good deal.

The price of cocoa hit an all time high in 2024.  The factors responsible include global warming, crop disease and smuggling.  There has been a production shortfall in West Africa for a few years now.

I bought the bulk of my Christmas food gifts during Christmas in July.  I was comfortable with the prices then but haven't checked to see if they changed.

Most people I know are cutting back on eating sweets due to Unwanted  calories and  many older  at risk for Diabetes.

I'd just find something else to give.

I don't buy Christmas gifts for anyone. Not because I can't afford them, I think gift buying for Christmas has gotten out of hand. Then people are still  paying for Christmas gifts months later.

If you are near an Aldis they have wonderful German treats. Cute foil wrapped chocolates and German cookies. I love the Libkuchen( Soft Gingerbread cookies) and they have the best price. Marzipan is always there also but that has alot of calories.Alot of their groceries are not as reasonable as they used to be. I find comprable items on sale in local Supermarkets. I drive an hour so don't go there often. I like the dark chocolate large bars for $1.50.

Some things could be  easily homemade like dipped pretzels, fudge, peppermint bark etc. if you were interested in making your own which would be probably cheaper.

If your budget situation is a concern for you, perhaps you could let them know that you love them but are cutting back.  They should understand.  Who knows, they might be in the same boat.  Nothing to be ashamed of.
