Re: Is it my eyes or is it the QVC set lighting?

I did not like the way the Special Value looked on anyone.  I am sure had I  bought it and wore it I would have gotten lots of attention (negative).  I was not quite right, probably okay for stage or for Halloween but not my intent or my style.

I believe it was that Laura Geller highlighting powder she was selling.  They all put that gold shiny powder on their eyes and it magnified their wrinkles x 1000.  Any powder makes wrinkles look worse, but gold shiny eye shadow powder around the eyes generally doesn't look that great if your eyelids are crepey or you have crow's feet.  Best to stick with matte powders.

Following Laura's tip with her gold powder, I did try using some gold shiny eye shadow I already have as a highlighter on my cheek bones and nose and then buffed it in real well and it actually worked pretty well as a highlighter.  I was surprised.

Re: Is it my eyes or is it the QVC set lighting?

I only watched a little of a TSV presentation with Laura Geller.  I was stunned at how bad it looked on TV when she added the Gelato Swirl Illuminator to the model's face.

The woman looked fine without it but once Laura added it, it just emphasized the model's pores and wrinkles which one could clearly see!  I kept wondering if it was my high def TV....but I have never noticed this before.  I think it was way too much makeup.

BTW,  I have a Gilded Honey Gelato Illuminator which I almost never use.  I don't need my pores highlighted.  Laura did show that it can be used as an eyeshadow which I plan on trying.

Even Laura Geller didn't look like her usual self last night. Was it her hair or the TSV. Not a good lookSmiley Sad

@camelot . I thought the same thing.  I like Laura Geller but she didn't look her usual self.  He shiny top didn't help either and it made her look bigger.

The TSV illumination was the problem.  They used way too much of it on everyone’s face, including Laura (who I adore).  So, they used heavier makeup to counter the illumination shimmer, then put on more illumination shimmer over the heavy makeup — and they all looked horrible.

I don’t think anyone could possibly look good with all that shimmer on their cheeks, eyelids, lips, forehead, down the bridge of their nose — all on the same face!

It's not just QVC - or your new glasses, @AussieLuvr.  I notice it on several TV shows, especially news reporters.  I've been known to turn off the TV or change channels because I can't stand to look at the too-made-up faces and over-sprayed hair (and that's just the men!).   Guess I'm too persnickity.

I only watched 5 minutes of QVC yesterday and it was an LG presentation.  Waay too much "glow" on everybody.

Even my DH (who notices nothing) said ..  "Why is everyone's face shining."   Informed him it was the MICA which is reflective, but what is alarming in her products mostly list Talc as the #2 ingredient which is carcinogenic.

So happy to read that I was not the only one who thought the made up faces were just too "made up"!!!  Everyone looked like they had caked on old fashioned pancake foundation and then topped it off by that frosted illumination item.

I think that the models and hosts already had make up on when they were on camera and then added more on top - made their faces look like plastic skin.  Not a good look......

Re: Is it my eyes or is it the QVC set lighting?

The hosts are all still wearing too much, especially the fake looking ey.eyebrows.  it's looking like the 40's again with heavy eyebrows drawn on way above where their natural eyebrows would be, and squared ofg in the nose end instead of tapered .I can hardly watch because I'm so distracted by what looks like 2 caterpillars above their eyes. Then there's all that shiny junk. So fake!  Is there some reason they are wearing heavier makeup these days???
