Re: Increased Shipping and Handling Charges

Just noticed another site I use......Eddie Bauer......30% off of EVERYTHING and free shipping on $99 or more. Birthday event for them. I am trying to remember the last time I got free shipping from the Q, and I honestly can't remember. Pitiful.

Re: Increased Shipping and Handling Charges

It will never change because it's part of their profit margin. And for those who believe QVC's shipping charges are in line with the competition - all you need to do is shop around and price compare. Whenever I see something here that interests me - that is NOT a QVC brand - I check other sites for price and shipping comparisons - and more often than not, I'll find the bottom line price cheaper elsewhere. I'm a long time customer (since 1989) and used to do most of my non-grocery shopping here...and now they get very little of my shopping dollars. There's just too much competition...especially as they rely too heavily on the mark up of their shipping charges to pad their profit margin.

Re: Increased Shipping and Handling Charges

One last note - we do all our shipping through my husband's employer. The employees get to ship via UPS and pay the corporate rate. It's amazing how inexpensive it is to ship UPS with the corporate rates. Without a doubt, QVC has great shipping rates with UPS and USPS and those low shipping prices are not passed onto their customers.

My employer has a corporate rate with UPS and FedEx. Q is making a fortune on shipping. If I recall correctly, that was mentioned in financial reports as one reason for earnings increases.

Re: Increased Shipping and Handling Charges

I don't mind paying Shipping and handling, I don['t feel like running all over town trying to find something similar that I like from QVC. I don't like to buy from many on-line retailers because I can't see what it is I am purchasing or if it's going to fit. Items I buy from QVC fit me well. I usually shop at Sephora or Ulta for makeup and skin care items. Those of you who enjoy shopping around, go for it, but I will continue to purchase from QVC.

Shipping is never free. It costs money to ship items and the carriers are raising their prices.

While some sites do offer "free shipping," many require minimum purchases, a yearly fee, or build the costs of shipping into their base prices. Thinking that you are getting something for free actually causes you to spend even more.

Of you think QVC's shipping is overpriced, I challenger you to ship some of these items yourself to see if you can ship it for less. In many cases, you cannot. Plus, add in the cost of packaging, labor costs for someone to do the packing, insurance, and be able to not only make a profit but be able to cover shipping refunds on return items. Good luck!

We can't ship for the same price QVC can. They get hugely discounted bulk shipper rates, which they fail to pass onto their customers. Well the idea of free does cause people to buy, then who's the fool here? The shopper or QVC? I'll bite for the free shipping elsewhere, thank you very much.

You won't get free shipping from QVC is you buy a $5000 piece of jewelry. They're woefully ungrateful is all I can say.

Re: Increased Shipping and Handling Charges

I have an idea that might work out for both QVC and the customer.

QVC could send things via flat-rate shipping boxes and then they'd only have to pay a set price. In turn, QVC could (if they're to) offer free shipping to the customers if they spend a set amount of money. Like, spend $50, get free shipping. That way, the customer could get free shipping and QVC won't lose a lot of money by giving away free shipping.

Anyway, it's just an idea.

Today I bought a lightweight coat and two thin sweaters and the cost for shipping is more than SEVENTEEN DOLLARS.

Used to be I'd choose QVC over other retailers but now if I can find it elsewhere, I do.

Target just announced free shipping on any order for the holiday season but QVC? Nothing. Not one single break or enticement to shop here.

It just gets easier and easier to take my $$$ elsewhere.

Did you enter your items all on one order? If you did, you'd get half off shipping on two of the three items, which would greatly reduce your total.

Well, of course this was one order and it still equalled that amount.
