Increased On Air Focus on Social

I've noticed an increased focus on social media. I was watching Pat and Jayne.  Rather than just referencing live chatting, they now display an on-camera graphic with bubbles indicating what the person said or their screen name. I am not a fan, but I have no other method to suggest for integrating the two channels.

What do you think? Do you want to see more emphasis on social while on air?

@Squirrels Are Trash

Seems like getting customer phone calls on air but instead live social media comments?  Ewwww.

The advantage of social media is that we get a very edited version of the client's post instead of a live call. I agree that live calls can be really uncomfortable.

I realize the push is to social media and streaming.  But no, I'm not a fan of excessive emphasis of either on air.  A mention or small graphic is fine.

If I want to join in on either I will.  But when I'm watching on air, I want the full "on air/television" experience.

I also realize this method is fast becoming a dinosaur.  Unfortunately, their methods of transition to a sustainable retailer are likely to drive me and others even further away.  In the end, there isn't one way that will fit all.

Must admit that I have not yet seen this, but I am not a fan.  Never thought the on air calls were useful either.  At least this way we can ignore more easily.

@Squirrels Are Trash,

My answer is no!  Who dreamed that one up?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Not sure why any of this is a big surprise to anyone. Everything is focused on everything in social media that can spew out  anything about everything!! That is the way of the future in some form or other--get used to it----

I don't care for transitioning to more social media, but that's me.

Ive been thinking about this a lot for the last few years.

What would a company such as QVC gain by doing this..

more $

Social media is free

so, selling online thru media such as Facebook and Instagram would possibly save the Q money?

They have already cut back on models...this is obvious.

I wonder too if the employ hosts more who have agreed to work for free or a lot less.

Yes, well-said, I still want the "on-air" experience.
