@Sheila P-Burg   I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that David was their very top salesman--or among the very top--on QVC.

Just my thoughts:  He is camera friendly, personable, has the "Southern charm" appeal, is excellent in his interaction with people, respectful, and kind of has a boyish charm.  His smile is infectious.  He is warm, friendly, respectful.

I don't believe his personal traits, as I perceive them, as outlined above, are in any way "fake" since I think those are his strengths, along with a lot of preparation for and knowledge of the items he presents.  And as another poster mentioned he used to sell jewelry on QVC and would be able to do so again, I'll bet.

He has a lot of drive, dedication, and I'd say is a perfectionist.

He is driven toward excellence, in my opionion, and has the need to excel in everything he attempts.

Do I watch him, and have I for a long time?  My answer is yes.  Am I more likely to purchase when he is the presenter? The answer, again, is yes.  He happens to present kitchen items, which are my primary "love" and now some home products that I also gravitate to, as well.

He is an example of the quintessential model of a salesman, and I mean that in a good way.  He is smooth, polished, and professional to the point that a person can forget that there is a sales pitch being made to the customer.

@aroc3435 You stated this perfectly! David is beyond amazing!!! ❤

@DottieD

I so agree about losing interest in David.  Years ago, I would try not to miss a ITK show...no longer & the big hype about his return "🤔😴😴😴".  Same old stuff for 3+ hours and Down Home w/David even bigger "snooze fest"!🙀

Whether you are selling cars, furniture or hocking things on TV, it only makes good business sense to use your employees where their strengths are!

It wouldn't be good business to 'try them out selling out of their comfort zone'!  QVC needs to sell, a lot!  We as consumers, do not need to 'see' how they do selling out of their 'expertise'!

I believe Q does a pretty good job with that....although I must say, one show I truly enjoyed and laughed with was when they had Antonella sellng the exercise chair w/ Susan Lucci!

NOT her strong suit, clearly, but she was so real, genuine about exercise and her abilities and so stinking funny!

If I didn't already have one, I woulda bought it!  LOL

I hope you know that David is the salesperson and not the buyer of those products. He has to present and sale what the Q tells him. I am sure all the host wish they can sale what they want and purchase what they want to present but is not the case. I see this in some form or another about every host on the Q.

I find he’s become a ‘character’ with too many antics for me.

I don't buy because he recommends it and I think all the emphasis on colors and numbers is a sales tactic to make you think it may sell out any minute so you better get yours now without it being in your face the way some hosts do.  I also hate the happy dance.  I much preferred yummy face.

However, one thing I do like about David is, he does not shy away from telling when a product he is selling is NOT appropriate for certain uses.  Recently, he was presenting that wine device that allows you to pour the wine without opening the bottle.  He made a point of saying that it would not work on anything other than a cork bottle closure.  A breath of fresh air vs the this is for anybody and everybody approach.  A lot of hosts gloss over any negative about a product.  I had thought about that little device for my wine drinking daughter, but after I figured out you have to buy those litle Argon gas cartridges I decided it was not a good purchase.

@aroc3435  ...... I agree David is probably at the present time QVC's top salesperson with Jane coming in second. You say you have been watching him a long time. If from what has been said in the different forums QVC is trying to bring in the younger buyers then changes have to occur. A lot of us have quit watching because the shows have become for lack of a better word boring. The happy dance, rolling of the eyes, etc. have become tiresome to a lot of us. Fun when first started too routine now.

I don't know what he is like "off camera" so I cannot comment on his personality. His behavior as well as the other hosts on camera may or may not be their true personality. They are doing the job they are paid to do and I am sure that at times they come out, grit their teeth, and say to themselves the show must go on whether they are happy or not.

I keep reading "southern charm". Have no idea what that even means. I am a northern girl ........ my husband was a southern boy. I lived in the south for a while. I did not notice any difference. Someone needs to explain what southern charm exactly means because I see no difference in David's "charm" than anyone else wanting me to buy something.
