Just got off the phone with UPS Technical Services to confirm.
If you are a MyChoice member (paid or free), and if your shipper does not choose to make your package MyChoice eligible, you will not be able to track the package through the MyChoice delivery alert e-mail that you receive. First you must sign in. Then all you will see is "In Transit." This may not have changed in your area yet. You will have to go to the regular UPS tracking page and enter the number yourself.
To me this sounds like a way to force shippers to choose MyChoice eligibility which probably costs them something extra. (I didn't ask.)
So as an average online shopper, I will have to choose whether to keep MyChoice and its benefits and waste a few minutes to get real tracking info, or drop out of MyChoice completely.
Not an easy decision. Hate to deliver this bad news.......

My Choice has gone to "heck" in a handbasket! It is a total mess now and difficult to get any information about anything.
Should rename it "My Chance".

In the email I received from my choice..they were suggesting that I can pick up my UPS packages at a CVS 2 miles from my house instead of home...

I've decided to stay in MyChoice. When I receive a shipped notice about a non-MyChoice package, I'll go to the regular UPS tracking page and sign up there for "this package only" alerts to my cell phone. Those alerts show the traditional point-to-point tracking info.
The new normal once again.
AAARGH!

@PickyPicky3 - This is actually not a new policy; I have been a UPS Premium member for awhile now, and sometimes there are packages that never show up in the system even though I know they're coming. When that happens, I just obtain the tracking number from the vendor, sign into My Choice, enter the number under "Track & Track History," and edit the name to list what the package is. If I want to check the package status, I can just go to "Track & Track History" again and click the tracking number link. It involves extra steps, to be sure, but at least you can still check on your packages.
Two notes:
•I can only recall having "non-appearing packages" like this once this year and just three or four times all of last year.
•When the packages have not appeared in the My Choice portal, I've received zero notifications from UPS that they are on the way (though I have still received shipping alerts from vendors). This seems like it is different from what PickyPicky is describing.
The only truly annoying part of this process is that it means you will not have the ability to upgrade a package from SurePost if it comes via that service. But again, since this does not happen often, it has not been a big deal for me.

I have not found My Choice to be a benefit. I have no plans to upgrade, or even to keep it if (when) they decide to charge for it.
