Re: I'm starting to see why QVC is 5.6 Billion in debt

My biggest complaint about watching is that hosts and guests talk way too much about everything except the products.

I want to see and know details of the product, fabric content & percentages, sizing, inside and out, metal content, gem ratings, etc etc etc.

I have no desire to listen to silly marketing schemes, hosts talk about other things, or TMI.

The ageist marketing is tacky at best, IMO. Have fun but be professional. Besides, there is nothing these 50-something hosts can say or sell that would have helped me with aging.

Their stock tanked. Their scheme to merge stock to increase the prices is a gimmimck and doesn't solve any problem.

Q still functions like the 1990s.  Most people don't. They need to listen and stop thinking they know better than customers.

personally I don't think the prices are high on QVC.  They are normal standard prices.  You can't compare this place to,Walmart, K mart , or Home Goods prices. Of course you can get things here  for less somewhere. EVERYTHING IS HIGH  in stores!   After we paid 40.00 for 3 street size tacos, 1 burrito, and half cup bean at a ToGo Mexican grill the other day I have given up.  A year ago that order cost us 22.00.  Even Costco many items I have bought forever, have almost doubled  in last 3 years. The problem in pricing may be in regional costs of living across the US.   In states where COL is lower, many see prices where the cost of living is higher, as not affordable, or too expensive . Example: gas here is 5 bucks plus ,compared to 2.50 or so many pay elsewhere   QVC does not alter its prices state to,state or city to city as Walmart, target etc do. I live in NorCal, when I go to SoCal I pay a tiny bit more on everything at name brand stores.  QVC pricing is one price, not adjusted for COL

QVC is mainly a convenience. You can get a larger than average array of sizes, colors , of one item, often not available in BM stores. Their guarentee is good, they are honest, they need to work on delivery!  Unless you order expedited or express, expect your package , whenever!

I agree about Hosts and the blabbing. ITA!  That's why I quit watching like many here and go online. IMO they spend too much time on one item, too much non sales related talk. I agree, years ago Kathy Levine, Mary Beth, Bob, Steve Bryant, Dan , Jill the lot. I know I am forgetting a few. They always dressed so professionally.  Not like me at home in my grungies, lol.  They detailed every item, got out that ruler.  informed us of the product. Kathy was a master at describing the exact color. She noted color looked different on screen, and decided perfectly what we woukd receive.  They were so professional, personable likable.

no, it isn't like the old days. Things change.  good Lord I am nearly 40 years older. Needs are different . QVC is a convenience, but it isn't Amazon

I still remember the first time I turned on QVC. I wasn't looking for a shopping channel, just channel surfing. Well, I saw this lady showing jewelry. It stopped me in my tracks whatever she was showing. She was a black lady, sitting at a desk with the jewelry, and VERY soft spoken. Everything was so quiet-just a nice atmosphere. I think her name was Barbara.  But that was then and this is now. I'm still a customer, but only online.

As the Q struggles, their answer to save themselves is to raise prices.

They used to put garment measurements in a box on the screen during the presentation.  They would also do a review at the end of the hour of all the items in that show.  I found both those things very helpful.

Re: I'm starting to see why QVC is 5.6 Billion in debt

I think one of the biggest problems is they don't understand their audience. They have put a lot of emphasis on the whole 50 and fabulous campaign. However, most people over 50 can't stand the way the hosts behave and just want clear information about the product they are thinking of buying. I can easily buy clothing online and check the measurements, size chart, fit, etc for any brand. The beauty of QVC was to have that information explained to you by a host. Now, they send you to the website like any other brand, and just fool around on air. For some reason they think this desperate housewives vibe is what people aspire to or want to see?

Except for when Leah is on in the mornings, I have completely switched to HSN. Their prices are better, they have fewer annoying hosts, and I prefer many of their brands.

Amazon and Walmart can send way faster.

HSN does that really helps. HSN sizing is weird. Too many choices and a lot of difference between the choices.

Bust can be 41 , then, in the other choice its 45 for the same size 'L'.

@CorrTor  Agree about HSN.  My fear is that it will become more like QVC as time goes by or as others have suggested disappear completely.  Time will tell.
