When I order something, I know if I want to return it where it will go, there will be a return label and how much it will cost if I choose to use it, or it will be reasonable enough if I return it myself.
Not the case with HSN. Twice I've wanted to return something and there was no return label. Because the items had to be returned to CALIFORNIA (I'm on the east coast) and there was no choice how to return it. So they didn't include a label. I would be paying up front for the return. And it wouldn't be inexpensive.
One item (Nutribullet)...the return shipping was something like $24...equivalent to one of the "flex pays." I sent it back. So it cost me about 25% of the cost of the item to return it.
More recently I wanted to return a handbag. Again...it's going to CALIFORNIA. No return label. So I took it to the PO. The cheapest rate I could get using my own box was around $15. (Can't remember if that included insurance or not.) Using a priority flat rate box would get it to $11 or $13...still a significant return amount. (I decided to keep the bag. I don't dislike it enough to lose the amount of the return shipping on it.)
Another odd thing about HSN...they usually send labels to return via UPS or USPS. I ordered the Joy air fragrancer (why, oh why do I order her stuff??); and when I wanted to return it, there was only a UPS label. Returning via UPS is a chore, because of where I live. So I called..."There's no USPS label." I was told it was because there was something in or with the product that prohibits it being sent via USPS.
Funny...that's how it was delivered. ![]()
Back to returns that go to CALIFORNIA (that all caps thing is on purpose, BTW)...I've never noticed whether that information is part of the item description. I doubt that it is. I can't see them saying, "Don't forget, our return policy blah blah blah, but the return WILL be going to CALIFORNIA."
Okay. That's it. ![]()

Had a similar issue when I ordered two Tracfones from them a while back. They said on air that they would work in my area. The zip code checker said they would work in my area.
Guess what? They didn't and when I went to return them...no return label. I phoned their CS and was told that I would have to return them on my own dime. The best price I could get was through UPS. $15.
To me, they were defective, because they said they would work and they didn't. They didn't say in the presentations that they worked on the AT&T 4G network, which is useless where I am. (In fact, the presentations gave little more information than "And oh look! We can take another selfie!!!") But there was no return of my S&H.
Never again comes to mind. I later ordered Tracfones from QVC that work on the Verizon 4G network and they're great. But even if they hadn't worked, at least there would've been a shipping label for no more than $8.95.

All iit took was one bad experience with HSN and I was done. I have only had one problem with an item that didn't work and QVC took care of it.....

I agree. The Q return label does make things so much easier. I also like that I have the option to send it back using my own label if it is something smaller like a light-weight clothing item. I am very grateful for QVC - especially this time of year!

I made several recent purchases from HSN and each order had a return label, including the tracfone I ordered.
Granted, some of the return labels are easier to spot than others. The one for the fry pans is obvious with dark print and a reasonable size. The one for the tracfone is a small non-descript label with light printing located at the bottom right corner of the packing slip that is easy to miss.

I rarely use the return labels if/when I return anything. $6.95 is outrageous for clothing or jewelry. I have spent less than 1/2 of that amount taking it myself to the post office.

While a piece of jewelry may be shipped at First Class for half the price of the $6.95 label.... that doesn't include Insurance, which would be the sender's responsibility. Depending on the value of the piece of jewelry it's approx $2.30 for every $50 of value which would put the cost of returning well over the QVC $6.95 cost. Every time you ship a package without insurance you take the chance of it being lost.... and if it's lost without insurance you lose the item and still have to repay QVC for it.... just a warning....
I sell on eBay and I insure all my more expensive items that I can't afford to lose. The rest I self-insure and will refund the buyer and lose the item and it's sale. Which has happened on occasion over the years.....

Esme, when they don't provide a return label, they will email you one. Now that was a year ago but I called customer service and they were very accommodating...
