I just knew this redesign was for the Q's benefit, not the user.

If I wanted to read page on page of blogs promoting products and shows, I knew where to find them. Now, I can't escapel them.

It seems the primary purpose of this redesign was to delete all our sub forums, and attempt to get us lost in a labyrinth of products and personalities we have no interest in ... in the hopes we will find new things to be convinced of, converted to and conquered ??? I don't think so LOL. I fully concede Q owns the forums, uses them to sell product and has the right to do so. However, if I can't find the product forums I'm interested in reading about the products I'm interested in purchasing, I won't be a forum user nor customer much longer.

I changed the setting to 'Forum View Only' and I don't see any of that.

Quick Links

Edit My Preferences

Display

Then scroll way down to 'Topic List Discussion Style' and choose 'Forum View Only'.

CB, I hope you don't mind that this is off topic but I cannot get the emoties to work (they keep showing up as text instead of the icon).

Do you know what setting I need to adjust for this?

Ya got me on that one.  I don't even see where they are.  The only animated-looking thing I see on the tool row is the spoiler tagging thing.    I just type a colon and right parenthesis to get a smile.  Smiley Happy    Beyond that, I guess it's the other basic ones like semi-colon and right parenthesis is a wink Smiley Wink  and that's the extent of my memory on it.

Oh wait.  D'oh!  I just saw the smile thing.  I swear it wasn't there.   Testing - Smiley Mad   Oh wow, these are really stupid-looking emoticons!  YIKES!  I thought the old ones were bad.  gadzooks

ETA - well, it worked for whatever that stupid one was.  It was called 'smilie mad'.  Uh, ok.    Maybe it's the browser.  I first came here on IE11 and the whole board was a big hot mess.  I since moved to Chrome and changed a bunch of settings, and it's way better.   Still really stupid emoticons, though!

Hey, QualityGal!   Did you have to change your name again?   Glad to see you.  I've been dinking around with this thing all morning and have a bunch of stuff figured out, but not all of it.

Some good stuff - they brought back 'last post' so when you click on a thread it takes you right back to the last post from the last time you were on that thread.

Also the spoiler tag deal is a big addition.  People here might not know how to use it, but it's an important (21st century) one.  Board does look like it's in the 20th century, but that was a definite improvement.

Hope this helps with the emoticons:  Under your name, upper right corner, drop down menu, click Settings, then Preferences, then Display ... and there's a way to change which type of emoticons you want to use, as well as a "default" one. Now, I haven't tried switching myself, but it appears to give style choices for the emoticons.
