I guess I expected too much from Marie Osmond and her BodyGym!

I purchased the BodyGym about 3 weeks ago. I do like the idea of it but am put off by the cheap quality of the videos and even the decals on the bar. I guess that I expected that for $39.99 + s/h I would get a professional DVD, and a bar's decals that stay on and are easily read, etc.

Instead I get decals that are the same color as the bar and very hard to see. The bar should have come in color choices or the decals made much lighter. Oh, yes, I know there are DVD's to learn the exercises but there's the other problem.

Both DVD's are poorly made, where the host and Marie are looking away from the viewer and speaking as though they were speaking to us. AND the biggest problem is that in the first video there are exercises that aren't on the bar or are renamed. On Marie's video, there's a one exercise that the name is used twice but the exercises are different. Again this video is very cheaply made. There doesn't seem to have been any proof-viewing before it was sent to market.

I love Marie and feel that this product will help to get me on my weight loss journey. But I also believe that the consumer deserves your best effort and Marie, as the owner of the company, I am surprised you'd want your name on this!

Re: I guess I expected too much from Marie Osmond and her BodyGym!

I really like this Body Gym and do not find it cheap quality - especially for the low price.  I workout daily for at least an hour and this has been a great addition.  I was really surprised to find my arms especially getting such a great workout as I do some really good upper body workouts.  I have never had to view the video as the instructions were self explanatory but I did view it when this same OP appeared to have some issues with the video not having the same people as displayed in the video and apparantly got the warmup exercises confused with the exercises on the decals.  They have the same names on the decals, written pamphlet as they do on the video.  Sure, the video isn't the best quality and looks like it was made cheaply but that kept the price down and like I said I did not need the video at all.

@Debbyrg, just enjoy doing the exercises and forget about the negativity you have created in your own mind.  They are easy to do and once you go through them a few times you probably will not need the video at all.   Good luck!

Tony Little has his version (The Easy Shaper) - and it's made from steel. It's top quality (no plastic at all!) and the same theory of exercise. I bought mine from hsn for the same price as Marie's - $39.99. It's sold out there right now, but probably available elsewhere.

Years ago we used the band's in the gym.  I still use them at home.  Her husband just came up with a better mouse trap using a bar to make the band easier to handle

I bought Tony Little's version, but the bar is too long for me, and its awkward to use. I will say it is high quality, but I didn't like the DVD. She can have mine if she wants to pay for shipping!

Re: I guess I expected too much from Marie Osmond and her BodyGym!

I have to disagree about Marie's Body Gym, I've been using mine for months now and have no problems, I think it's great!

Frankly, I never use the enclosed DVDs anyway (but glad I have them in case I need them).... and the plastic seems strong enough for what it does.  I feel that when (and if) I have problems with this, it'll be with the bands, but so far they're fine.

Also, I wish it weren't true but $40 just doesn't buy what it used to.... especially when you consider a large designer coffee is almost $5.00!

Anyway, hopefully you'll find something more suited to your needs and price point... good luck!  Woman Happy

I still have Greer Childers info about her body bar, the original one.     According to Carolyn, who uses hers, you will be able to see the results in her body.    Just follow her progress.

@Debbyrg I was disappointed when she came out with a dvd that she was on after I had already purchased the one with the dvd that had other 'experts' on. I always like to watch an instructional dvd that acompanies exercise equipment through once before doing it. Well, I tried twice and nodded off each time. I agree that the decals are hard to see, but the booklet helps.

I found just watching her with others on QVC presentations more informative. There are some on you tube also.

I have enjoyed using mine once I just started doing what I saw done on the presentations. I think it is well made and useful. I also have a "Chair gym" in one room and find I feel similar after using either. Whatever way one does it resistance is very useful to building muscle , which is vital to health and longevity.

@karol59 did you buy it at HSN ?
