Shop LC!!!!!!!! So on my FB page an ad popped up from Shop LC, it was for a strand of ( so called ) Akoya pearls for $150.00, "WOW", I thought, this is a great deal! So off I go to the website to order this treasure, but first I looked for any kind of coupon or promo code, which I found for 25% off. So I ordered this strand of Akoya pearls and was excited to get them because they are so beautiful....buuuuuuut, when they finally came almost 2 weeks later, they arrived in a regular plastic popper bag without even being in a box to protect them, they were just in a pretty silky bag which subjected them to being crushed during shipment. When I open the pretty bag and took the strand out, I was shocked to see how bad these "pearls" were, they had so many dings and the drill holes were horrible. The coating was coming off some of the "pearls" so bad that I doubt these are even real pearls. Now I know good jewelry and jewelry in general because I have been a collector of jewelry for over 50 years, these "pearls" were nothing but 9mm plastic beads with an irridescent fake coating!!! I had noticed that there was no return label, and the invoice said that clearance items aren't returnable, the problem is that the order page never said it was a clearance item or non returnable. So the next day I called the 800 number which is centered in Jaipur India....( scam capital of the world where most of the scam calls come from ). So I explained the situation to the "call center guy", he said that he understood and would send me a return label, well that was 3 weeks ago and it still isn't here, and I guess it well never be here....So I'm chalking this up to experience as a loss, but let me tell you I will NEVER order from this company again, it was the first time and the last time!!! Has anyone else had a bad experience with this shopping channel before?

Re: I got ripped off by.......

Lots of ads on FB from websites that pretend to be the real thing. I'd never order anything from a FB ad.

@elated  and @NjsKillingme  Shop LC has nothing to do with what happened. This has been going on for years. It's a Scam. No way to get your money back. A lot of people who believed it, lost their money.

There are one or two Threads here about it. I've seen ads about QVC on FB and it involved Skechers, spelt Stechers and people bought what they thought was the real thing.

I didn't know this was still going around.

I just stated she could call Shop LC and see what their reaction is to her situation. It probably is a scam but no harm no foul.

Re: I got ripped off by.......

She has said several times that she went directly to Shop LC's website and ordered the necklace.  She did NOT order it from the Facebook ad.

I checked Shop LC's website for a $150 Akoya pearl necklace, and it's there.  I don't think it was a Facebook scam.  It seems that Shop LC is not a reputable website.  I've never ordered from them or heard much about them, but they were advertising that it was an $800+ necklace for $150.  That doesn't seem truthful to me.

Re: I got ripped off by.......

I have purchased items from Shop LC by phone and on the website.  I believe they are based in Austin, TX.  I have not had any problem with my orders. In the OP's case I would definitely pursue the matter with Shop LC. The product she received was clearly defective.

Re: I got ripped off by.......

I didn't order from the FB ad, I went to the website, and it's an actual shopping channel that Chuck Clemancy works at now.

@NjsKillingme - I haven't noticed how you paid but, once again, dispute it with your CC company or bank.

If you ordered from the ShopLC website, they are the ones responsible for reimbursing you.  If you don't get anywhere with them, also report it to your own State Attorney General's office.  They deal with this type of consumer issue.  And tell ShopLC you're going to do that - it may well focus their attention.  (They don't want to get in this type of trouble.)

I can't offer any other option, but it seems to me you've been given some good advice on this thread.  The bottom line is, don't give up until your money is refunded.
