Re: I don't post often, but needed to speak up

[ Edited ]

I have never made a mean or rude comment about the physical appearance of any host.  However, there is one particular host who does annoy the heck out of me.  If she would stick to her job of selling, instead of adding in all the other commentary that has nothing to do with what she is selling, then I would have no problem with her.

And don't tell me to change the channel -- but I do anyway. I want to watch it live, see clothes on a real person(s) moving about, and order my size and color before it sells out.  But this host is a channel changer for me.  I lose out.  QVC loses out.

I would think that the higher ups review and give feedback to the hosts, on a regular basis.  If they don't, they should.  I view my comments about this host as constructive criticism.  I know we all have our favorites.  But I think this host is losing sales due to her behavior.  I know she is mine. But she is not going to change.  So whatever.

@Trinity11   I find it MUCH MORE offensive when posters criticize each other than when they criticize the hosts.  The hosts are public figures, subject to comments, good and bad.  We posters are strangers to each other and should treat each other with respect.  JMHO!!!!

I agree with you.  There is no reason why posters should post offensive comments about other posters just because they disagree with an opinion.  It is possible to have a different opinion without hurling the insults.

@Puppy Lips I think your post should be highlighted in gold. Unfortunately QVC doesn't seem to realize the potential sales lost that could so easily be rectified by a few modifications.

Re: I don't post often, but needed to speak up

I was not suggesting rainbows and roses. Some commentary is fair, constructive criticism is fair.  Personal attacks on appearance should be out of limits.

To the people that stated: "the moderators will take down the posts" is not assuming any personal responsibility or agency.

Analogy:  I could drive at high speed breaking the law and maybe will stop once I recieve a ticket.  I am still driving recklessly. The comments are still often unkind and should not need the moderators to step in.

Maybe those that feel free to say what they want should consider if they would make this statement to the hosts if they were in person.

I am not a delicate flower, not clutching my pearls, not handwringing as was suggested.  I am a fan of common decency and courtesy.  And, do not choose to hide behind the anonimity of these boards to say what I want.

My final comment:  Too often women tear other women down.  We should lift each other up and support one another.  I assume that most that comment are women.

@Kitty Galore So this host presented the Susan Graver TSV dress on May 5 at midnight.  I LOVE Susan Graver dresses so I decided to suffer through it. I was out of town in a hotel room.  No computer.  My old cell phone will not give me the details like the size chart of any item.  I can see it and order it on my phone thru Rakutn, but not open all the details and descriptions.  One thing that is important to me is the length.  The dress came in petite, regular, and tall.  I NEEDED to know the length ranges for the regular and tall so I could decide which I wanted to buy.  No such information was mentioned.  BUT, we did get a long and winding train of thought that ended up with a daughter.  Had nothing to do with the dress.  So I ended up buying both the regular and the tall to be sure I got what I wanted.  Customers have no idea how long the items will be available before selling out.  Now I will have a return fee and lose $10.45   It is possible she mentioned the length range after I turned off the TV, but I doubt it.  I saw other presentations later in the day with two different hosts, and both were quick to give the length measurements of the 3 choices.  If the midnight host had done her JOB, I would have made my selection and not been out $10.45. It seems her main focus is always to find a way to bring her daughters into the conversation, no matter how convoluted it may be.  That is my complaint about this host and I am not going to apologize for saying so.

@Puppy Lips The great news for you is that you don't have to see her or even listen to her these days!  CC is a great invention in this world and lets me remain happier in a lot of instances!
