How much time per item in a show?

Was wondering this while watching the Doll 10 show on HSN now.  How is it decided how much time per item?  I was getting annoyed and did change the channel as they spent a half hour on the first item in the show which was that green cream concealer. I was thinking move on already!  Not a big deal just wondering as have watched other shows where they move along at very fast pace barely giving some items much time at all.

My guess is they have a target number for how many they want to sell in a show and they keep talking it up until that number is reached.  JMHO!

@KKJ

I think it depends on a couple things ... first, quantity in the QVC warehouse, ready to go.  If QVC has 50,000 units of whatever it is, it'll get a lot more air time than something where they only have 10,000 units.

Also, they may spend more time on something in the show if, perhaps, there was a shipping delay for something else in the show, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Probably other reasons, but these came to mind first.

In the early days of QVN/QVC, three minutes were used per item - and many things sold out.

they keep a close eye on the sales per minute/second and if not selling they move to the next

they could be stalling for time.  Or that particular item is highlighted for the hour.  Perhaps an agreement with vendor, or a lot of inventory  I know shopping channels do that with the todays specials  but highlighting a product to get it out the door, and lack of other products for that particular hour.  Just guessing

Depends on how great the demand is.  If it's selling. Theye'll they'll keep going.  If it's a dud, they'll move to something else.  The producer is constantly watching sales figures and making suggestions to increase sales by emphasizing certain words.

They watch the units selling numbers on the monitor.  I think if those numbers are not moving at a healthy pace they tell the host to wrap and move on to next item.

Years ago I took a tour of the QVC studio and saw a presentation in progress.

That tour was fun.  I saw Lisa Mason presenting with Joan Rivers.  Then they had us go on set with Bob Bowersox to taste cookies while on camera with him.

@FLtricia I went on the tour too and loved it.  It was when JT was on saturday mornings with Silver Style.  We saw her on the set and then saw Rick.  It was so interesting, even my hubby enjoyed it.
