I posted earlier on this thread. I wrote about direction and production being the issue. However, today I saw something similar to what the OP saw. Kerstin was doing an opening with David. She jumped up while on camera to move the next segment before the graphic came up which would have given her time to get to next set. She jumps the gun. No biggie, I guess.

It does seem abrupt and rude. Then should some kind of closer to the segment.

It does, but not all the sets are close together. Sometimes they really have to hoof it. That's when "segue" comes into play. Hosts usually try to allow for this. If you've ever seen Jayne B. and Pat D. work together, they've made references to that. Abrupt and rude? Yes.
It's like real life Not everything goes as smoothly as we'd like.

I've seen this once before, a few years ago, with Carolyn Gracie and Jamie, the IT cosmetics vendor at the time. Jaime was still talking when Carolyn turned and walked away toward the model that was demonstrating, leaving Jamie standing alone.

I think this is the kind of walking away the OP meant. When the host walks off camera DURING a presentation, leaving the vendor there to fend for his or herself. Shawn does this frequently and I have also see kerstin do it in order to put on the next garment being shown or change the color. It's still rude to me to leave the vendor there when they may not be 100% comfy alone before the camera.
This happened recently with Shawn and the Northern Nights vendor ( who used to work for that clothing line that Marybeth loves). Shawn wanted to remain in bed ( she always takes full advantage of seats and beds on the set) and asked the NN vendor if she should follow her. The NN vendor said no but I could tell she was displeased with it.

the camera, should be on the product...not the host so much, to me.

She may have been directed to do that. A lot of what they do is not up to them, so it's possible that someone else jumped the gun, and not her.
(Of course I have no idea if that's the case in this particular incident. Just my thought based on my experience.) :-)

The camera people also do not show us the item that the host is highlighting. Many times they are pointing to a small feature of a product and the camera is showing the host and vendor from a distance. Many times when David is reviewing "all the colors available" he has to stop because he knows when he is pointing to red the camera is still showing the sky blue.
