Is the program host position a full time, 40 hour work week? I imagine hosts take a lot of meetings and do office time etc. besides performing their on air time.

I believe that they do have many meetings, they prepare for the presentation, talk to the vendors, read posts on these boards, post on social media etc. They are in sales, their job is to make us like them and purchase the products that they are selling. They establish a relationship with the buyer, or the buyer presumes that he or she has a relationship with the sales person. Just read the posts, many on these boards follow the doings of the on-air hosts. They have a great job and I think that they are well paid. Sometimes I read the host blogs and look at the pictures and truthfully, I don't see them wearing many of the QVC items. I think Jane Tracey does, Marybeth and maybe Leaha. Not Sean. It is interesting how myself included can be talking into buying an item that I did not think about buying until I watched a presentation.

There are a few hosts that have far less air time than others. I think they are the "part timers." They are not "on air" every day. Most times "on air" once a week or a couple of days a month like they are filling in for somebody.

And you have to add in the time they spend on business oriented "social media"................

Jane Treacy at one time said she worked part-time, however she seems to be there more often now so she may have changed.

Sometimes I wonder about host presentation preparation. They partner with a vendor on-air, how much prep do they need? And I always figured they got a percentage of what they sold or had to meet some type of quota for a bonus.
I'm sure vendors are very generous to the hosts as well.
Like maybe Isaac with Shawn.
I think in the case of a long term host, "time", whether part or full, is irrelevant.
That's just my take.

I think the Dans are on a lot. I think some of the female hosts went part-time when their children were young. Some seem to be back full time--like Jane T.

I have heard many different hosts say that they have to be at work 3 hours before their shift. They said they have to meet with show planners, writers, vendors and do other show prep. It doesn't matter if it's the same vendors they are with time after time, they go over what is in the show that day, decide who is going to say what, etc.
I remember back when Jane left and started her own website, she had a question section and someone asked about the hours. Jane said even part-time hosts work nearly 40 hours because of prep time, meetings, etc.
