I used to read and write on here years ago.  Now it says I've only posted 133 times.  What is this based on, anyone?

Also I do not understand the "hearts" sent to me?  Sorry, this was never an option.  What does it mean?

I only write a few times per month and took years off because of moves and illnesses.  

Could someone take a few minutes and possably get me up to speed?  Thank you, Cathy

I pay little attention! If I have a comment to the original post, I make it and move on. I rarely check back. I see notifications that I have received hearts or have been mentioned, and I may or may not check those, depending on how busy I am. I think the hearts mean that someone agreed with the post.

They completely revamped the forums quite a while back and, when they did, for some reason many of us lost thousands of posts and our "date joined" got set to March of 2010.  Don't ask - no idea why they did that!

Anyway, the hearts are as has already been explained.  If someone likes what you posted and wants to "agree" with it, he/she can click on the heart icon to let you know.  And you can do the same for someone else's post that you agree with.

I also think it's a way to say "thanks" or acknowledge someone who's mentioned you in a post.

You don't need to use that feature at all, if you don't want to.

@Jackhound Mom, about 18 or so months ago the entire Community was revamped.  At that time sign up dates were reset and if you are an old time poster the default year became 2010 or later.   Old post counts were not accurately carried over so some posters with many thousands of posts may have ended up with a small percentage.

Posters click on the heart for a variety of reasons--to acknowledge your post, agree with what you said, send a hug.  When the notification system is working properly you will get an alert and it will show that your post has received a heart or that someone has mentioned you in a post as I did above.

When others notify you with hearts, you know they either liked or agreed with your post 

or they are letting you know they read it

or that they have been on the board and are still around.

This means the same to me as a "like" on FB. 👍🏻

Good Morning and thanks to all for the answers!  I am not a FB user and this is the only place I have ever written or read from.

There used to be a group of ladies from the palmeto state that were so kind, funny and informative in Among Friends.  This was over 10 years ago and I lost touch when the lead person stopped.  Anyway I miss them!

I hope you all have as much fun as I did back then and I will check in sometimes.
