Harry Slatkin's Homeworx Candles

I always thought Homeworx candles were soy, but I recently discovered they're parrafin.

I find his candles so overpowering. I stick to luminara flameless candles. I don’t have to deal with overpowering scent.

I'm surprised they're parrafin. Harry always talks about his "proprietary blend." I just assumed they were soy. Parrafin candles supposedly release toxins into the air.

Re: Harry Slatkin's Homeworx Candles

I never really thought too much about burning candles because I would use them occasionally not daily but after reading about paraffin candles, little worrisome..I thought of Shawn who says frequently that she burns Homeworx candles daily all day long. Paraffin candles are a derivative of petroleum so they can emit unhealthy substances into the air. Soy wax and coconut or beeswax candles are much better options. I would say especially if you have children around them.

In a medium to large sized home how bad could burning a candle be?  Doesn't seem that dangerous to me.  Maybe with allergies or certain health troubles.

I stopped buying them.  hey burn very dirty.  I had soot all over my house. And yes. Some of the scents can be very overpowering.

Re: Harry Slatkin's Homeworx Candles

This is BS..I've been a candle maker since 2009. FOOD GRADE PARAFFIN is what is used in the industry now for paraffin and paraffin blend candles ( unless you buy mass produced candles from China). The amount of petroleum in food grade paraffin is so minuscule it's basically not there. Food-grade paraffin wax is composed of vegetable oils, palm oil derivatives, synthetic resins and other materials. The National Candle Association has done numerous tests/studies proving that food grade paraffin candles do not emit dangerous chemicals into the air. No wax does.

Yes, Homeworx candles are food grade paraffin.

In gum, candies, coats your fruits and vegetables.

Just more false interweb misinformation being spread to instill fear and hysteria.   Not unusual on these forums.

I have never, ever encountered "soot" from these candles.

I love his candles and bought 2 TSV sets yesterday!
