I have one of the first models, in rose gold.
Very handy when the power is out. I'm the only one on my block that has a lamp (LED bulb) shining in my living room when there is a power outage.
Folks wonder if only my power was turned on, and not theirs.

January, 1994, midnight during a snowstorm where the staff, hosts, etc. had to stay to cover the TSV (gorgeous ring). Everyone was laughing like drunks. Thought "this sounds like a fun place." I'm still around!
I had a similar experience ...... Maybe it was 15 yrs ago and one night I couldnt sleep and stumbled across QVC.....like your experience there was a snowstorm in West Chester, PA.....and my host was Mary Beth and she said that the storm was so bad her husband was coming to pick her up since he didnt want her driving home alone in the storm....I thought that was so sweet and caring that I began watching QVC.....in the daytime...

I can attest to the importance that people today place on their cell phones....during the unusual Texas artic storm we had last February people were more concerned about keeping their cell phones, tablets, and laptops charged then they were than being out of electricitiy and no running water....people sat in their cars for hours using their car charging devices on their electronics.....But I was more concerned with all the wasted food in my refrigerator.....and not being able to flush my toilet, even stores had run out of bottled water, and I was more concerned about finding food that i could eat that didnt require electricity or using the gas in my car to find a fast food restaurant that was open that had a generator so I could get something to eat......People have different priorities I guess!!!

OMG what if you couldn't do those things?!?!?!?
When MY power goes out, I worry about the boiler ( heat) in winter and the fridge in summer. Losing power when it's 0 or 90 degrees is critical.. charging a silly cell phone is not ( you can do that in your car if it's really that important to you).
And....WHY don't they suggest using a small string of white Christmas lights, which today are ALL LED and use a TINY amount of electricity, instead of a light bulb if you MUST have light for a few hours?!?!??!?
Spend the money on a battery for your car if its that old and unreliable.
Another breathlessly presented gimmick in my opinion...the older I get the less I need gimmicks.
@Othereeeen needing your battery jumped doesn't always mean your car is old and unreliable. I had a brand new car and I went on vacation. I forgot to have someone start it for me every few days. When I came home my car wouldn't start. I needed a jump. Not becasue my car was old or unreliable, it was a brand new car with less than 1000 miles on it. The battery needed a jump because my car sat idle for a short time while I was away.

I got one and I'm thrilled. Did they say in the demo you could use it for the fridge?
