If the show is next week and it takes 10ish days to receive an order, that would take us to the last week of September.

I don't remember when retail DIDN'T start promotions early. Right after New Year's, the Valentines stuff will be in the stores. QVC starts selling garden plants/ decorations/supplies during the winter. If you say, "I don't even think about gardening until April" you will miss out. Swimsuits are sold way before July. It's been this way, as long as I can remember.

Halloween seems to come earlier and earlier each year.

Next we will hear about going to the pumpkin patches over and over.

It's the way it has been in retail forever. If it wasn't like this there would be no clearance sales to literally clear out merchandise. In this case, it may take time for people to get the item, maybe exchange it for a different size / color or return it altogether for some thing else. That can take a few weeks.
