@KYToby wrote:These are not "guest hosts," they are simply vendors with [roducts to sell. The job of the actual show host is to move the program along, push sales, and update viewers just tuning in.
While you my not like a particular practive, everything done on QVC is carefully crafted to drive sales. While the "terruptions" may turn some people off, the fact is these actually boost sales.
Like so many other complaints people have about proramming and product rotation, the people complaining conveniently forget that QVC is programming to millions of homes across multiple time zones. Not everyone watches television on the same schedule nor can everyone afford to spend hours on end watching a shopping channel.
@KYToby Those of us that "complain" don't spend hours on end watching a shopping channel, nor tune in on the same schedule....we actually do other things and know how to change the channel...

It's been said, however, that they have been showing less profits so maybe their changes weren't good ones. The number of people complaining would appear to confirm that view point.
But talking over someone is rude, plain and simple. I wonder if that's why Bobbi Brown is rarely on any more.. the hosts would CONSTANTLY talk over her and there is NO HOST that knows Bobbi Browns' products like BOBBI BROWN.
As an aside; someone mentioned the PTR sales pitch of going into a 20 million dollar home and blah blah blah and how sick they were of that kind of sales presentation. One of my sons is taking a business course in college and right now they're on a section regarding selling. Over and over it states that painting a picture/telling a story is the #1 way to convince a person they NEED the object you are selling. So, as someone stated, the Q knows EXACTLY what they are doing and doesn't care if we don't like it; someone does and they're buying, apparently.
@SahmIam I think most of the customers still buying these days are the ones that have bought in to the sales gimmick "the hosts are your friends" or "the Q host is my BFF on Facebook" ...... they love love love the family chit chat and personal stories and as long as their favorite is selling, they're buying......meanwhile many of us have turned the channel and found something else to do...and aren't buying!
Painting a picture to me, in this case jewelry, is describing the design, the uniqueness, perhaps tell a story about the gemstones (EXCEPT for Sleeping Beauty where we all know THE MINE IS CLOSED)....anyway---the way the accessory or jewelry looks with different colors of clothing, different fabrics---how flattering it is to the ear, wrist, face, neckline etc etc.....showing the models and how it looks......The Hampton trip or the 20 mill NYC penthouse just doesnt do it for me....

Until we know what TPTB at QVC have designated the roles of the host and vendors, it's hard to say who is doing what.
I posted before but years ago, one of the Q vendors (who no longer appears), did a reality show and part of the filming was done at QVC with him in vendor training. He was told that the host is the one who runs the show and should do most of the talking. He was told he is not the "star" but the product is and the host does more of the talking. You would think from a buyers standpoint, the vendor would know more about the product but apparently, QVC didn't see it this way.
The hosts generally have a producer in their ear who is telling them what to say, what to do, etc. Maybe they are telling the host to say certain things, move things along, etc.
The hosts also meet with the vendors prior to the show to go over new products, what is going to be said, who is going to say it, etc.
Given this, I'm not sure why sometimes it seems they are nearly fighting to be the one speaking. LOL

Some of the vendors do well on camera. Some, not so much😉Not criticizing, I would So be in the latter group. I can understand the host's being responsible for controlling the presentation. They should be the pro's, know what's expected, how to move the presentation along, etc.
I've always felt the over talking, both from Host and Vendor, isn't so much poor manners, or rudeness, as it is, a result, of live, unscripted presentations.
You know how it is, when you're with a group. Sometimes nobody is talking, then suddenly, everybody has a thought, and, we're all talking. I would imagine they try to work with hosts and vendors to help prevent over talking, but, my theory for what it's worth; probably next to impossible, to eliminate it.
Host that feels they have to get information out there and sell; enthusiastic, excited, maybe nervous vendor=Jabber Talk

Obviously some hosts and vendors are articulate and some....not so much! Speaking well is something that I notice.
It's hard to believe that some of the hosts have broadcasting degrees or that they worked as a journalist before. Really?

Oh Please! Sure I can remember my parent's saying "one at a time"!
But I've also been part of big, fun, rowdy family parties, or groups of friends, where everybody is talking at once!
I suspect, as I said before, a lot of the over talking, on the shopping channels, is due to the unscripted nature of the presentations.
Yes, it can be irritating, but, I highly doubt it's indicative, of Hosts having been raised by wild hyenas 😉

Why does Ms. Irvin always correcting the Guests language????? I can't stand for someone to act like everyone's mother. Quit correcting your guest about their words. Let people be people and do not act like you feel like you are better than they are. And stop blaming your mother for you doing this. I have quit watching her for this reason.
Unfortunately, my favorite Guest was on this morning so I had no choice. Please quit embarrassing your guest on national television.

Just watched Courtney on the Q lunchtime with Isaac and his TSV. What comes to mind is "babbling brook." Poor Isaac....

I can't be quiet any longer!!! Talking about interruptions!!! SUSAN GRAVER....I cannot watch the show for fear I'll throw something at my TV and break it when she is on air. She will not shut up!!!!! Needless to say when I switch to QVC and she's on air...thank goodness remote has batteries and is working! Why doesn't management talk to her since she "belongs" to QVC?? Two more requests, I've phoned customer svc and asked that the hosts shut up and show inside of purses...they still don't...and PLEASE place measurements of bust and hips on clothing on screen!!!! You've almost totally lost me, mgmt, better listen to us!!!!
