Lots of poofing!
‎04-18-2025 08:00 AM
I don't mind if mods poof posts. It's their job. They operate with a narrow view but that's what Q told them to do.
I do care when other posters report anyone's posts. Forum police are not needed. If they don't like a post, move on like a grownup.

Don't mind either. Just dislike when it takes soooooo long.

@CalminHeart One would think that by now, posters would refrain from starting a post knowing its going to cause disagreement and lead to it being poofed. I agree, reporting posters is juvenile.

IMO, that's not the problem. I think the biggest problem is lack of tolerance.
Too many people think only their opinion is correct and report posts they don't like. Many add their own narrative to think a post means something totally different than was posted.
People need to wear big boy/girl panties to be on any forum or social media.
Yes, some people get their jollies from reporting posts.

People report ,because they do not agree with the post, and they want to be in control, don't they have anything else to do?
‎04-18-2025 08:49 AM
That is job! I wouldnt want to do it. I have been asked to moderate a board and I said no thank you!
‎04-18-2025 09:07 AM
While I agree many posts/threads are reported for petty reasons just imagine what the boards would be like if no posts/threads were reported and all monitoring/poofing relied strictly on the mods noting the violations.
Hundreds of posts across hundreds of threads constantly increasing on a daily basis cannot possibly be read/checked by the mods.
Of course, Q could use more bots to monitor the boards, like the ones that automatically substitute **** for disallowed words but if they did so I can see where ultimately a very high percentage of posts would be poofed by the bots.
As good or bad as AI or algorithms may be they are not capable of understanding context or nuances or many other communication factors that are innate to humans so innocent posts/threads would simply disappear.
Judicious reporting by participants is a necessity.

Moderating is a very difficult job, I applaud the time & efforts they put in. I have reported posts - just did so with the bombardment we had of the links within the the last week, but do not get into 'she's being mean' type of BS.
I hope the moderation team has a good weekend!
Good post Marp!! Thank you for caring enough to say what needs to be said.

I report political now because QVC gives me the option to do so. If posters don't like it don't break the rules you agreed to. Now in all honesty I broke the political rules monthly maybe more until a poster pleaded with us not to break the rules or the forums might go away for ever. QVC literally wants us to help them or they would not give us that option so I don't care what someone says about me here. Call me forum police, so what.
