Lately I have been seeing a public service commercial on TV about putting a green porch light outside to honor veterans and the armed services. Are you going to do this? Another question is--is this a one night thing for Veterans' Day? or is it something meant to be for a longer time-say though November?

I wondered that myself. It looks to be ongoing.

In my neighborhood, it's only for Veteran's Day week.

I've been seeing this, and while it's great, they need bumper stickers or something else as well. I can't be the only person who doesn't have a personal front porch light or anywhere else to show a light. There needs to be a "Green Something (Else)" that is visible to Vets when they, and we, are out and about.

I like the idea about the green light but an alternative is a good idea too.
Perhaps a green ribbon or bow?
Easy to hang on the front door or pin a small one on your blouse,

They have all those silicone bracelets for various causes - they could do one a particular shade of green, with the proceeds going to vets organizations.

I just started hearing the last few days, I think they're ramping up to Veterans Day.

How about something more impactful, like inviting a vet over for a nice dinner or two, baking a vet something nice, making a vet a quilt for the cold winter weather, donating to veterans organizations or volunteering at places that help vets? I don't know, these kinds of things seem a bit silly to me since they don't really "do" anything of substance. No offense to anyone.
