If the QVC host is not wanting to reallly immerse themselves in the experience of trying the foods and they barely taste or nibble the items, then they are boring to watch. Ally is one of them. She was not fun to watch and don't recommend she do future gourmet holiday shows.

Yes. Ally was boring to watch earlier this week on gourmet holiday. Sorry to say, but true.

There are definitely tried and true foods here that go like hot cakes, most of it not so much however.

Folks buy stuff to try it but a lot of it isn't good and it' revealed by means of reviews. Yet, vendors still bring it here. Don't you wonder what happens to ALL the food stuffs they try to sell here?

Kathy Levine wrote in one of her books, the food shows were torture for her to host, she was always on a diet and never wanted to eat any of the very fattening foods they sold.

I've said this before, but, it doesn't bother me if hosts do not eat the food since I don't base my food purchases on their reaction. However, with that said, I believe QVC should have a standard. Either none of the hosts need to taste, or, if QVC pushes them to try each item then all hosts presenting should.

With David and his diet, when he doesn't try a food due to calories, carbs or whatever, it gives the impression that the food is not healthy enough for him and it shouldn't be healthy enough for us.

I do purchase a lot of the food on QVC. We eat healthy most of the time. Occasionally we like to eat their Heartland chicken, battered Mahi Mahi, and caramel apples, etc. We are not overweight and workout at least 5X a week. We can determine what WE choose but it's a disservice to the vendors when "it appears" a host won't try due to fat/carbs/calories. It's a little ridiculous anyway how the hosts roll their eyes and act like each item is better than the last.

I seldom watch, but I have seen David eating during the food shows. Probably necessitated by the netizen comments.

I never understood the need to watch people eat to form a judgement on the quality of the food. Either you like how the food looks, or you dont. You're okay with the price, or you're not. A host's reaction doesn't phase me a bit.

QVC and the host are damned if the do, and damned if they don't. People just seem to need, search, fabricate a reason to take potshots at QVC or specific host.

@Shelbelle   I can relate!  There would be no circumstance under the moon, stars or sun that would compel me to eat any food I thought would not "look good on me" afterward!!  I guess being a QVC host would be inadvisable for me!

Smiley Very Happy

Regarding Ali not eating any of the food, or only "tasting it" coincided with that theory.

I like to know what the reaction is to the food item.

What I do not like is when the host smushes the cookies or the bread or items like that to show that the food item is good.

Total turn off with me.

There are a few who do such and I then turn the channel. I am then not interested in the food or the show.

I agree with what you are saying 100 % about a disservice. I would just like to add I  think  when a  host does a "DANCE" for some vendors and not others, is something that shouldn't be allowed anymore .We all can see nibbles of certain foods by him , but foods that he is allowing himself  they get a "DANCE" not fair to other vendors, and might be sending me and others viewers a message.

Re: Gourmet Holiday

Ali can't please everyone.  She didn't gobble the food up. If she had she would have been criticized for doing so by another group of posters.

She did an excellent presentation of the products. She just chose not to yell, dance, and gobble which is fake in reality.
