I have a philosophy that works for me: If l believe that most of what the salespeople say is baloney, l won't be disappointed. Lol.

I'm not sure that Jill is considered a vender. She is the designer/ spokesperson for Gili, QVC's own line .I would think that she is an employee? Nonetheless it's tacky for her to pre purchase those pouches. The sale was meant for customers not employees!!

Lisa R. never owned the GILI line. It was QVC owned. She once did a blog or posted about it in depth and explained how it all worked.
I don't believe Jill for one second. I'm sure it was a sales tactic.
However, I have heard hosts say they are not allowed to order new items before they go on air not that they aren't allowed to order any items. But then you hear them talk about ordering items before going on air so who knows what the real deal is?
Unfortunately, this kind of thing does happen all the time in retail. We just don't hear about it because you don't have the sales associates telling customers.
I've had family that worked in retail and when it came time for end of the year inventory, the employees got excellant deals on items and many times the good stuff was purchased by employees before it ever hit the sales floor.

I have nothing against Jill but don't consider her a sophisticated representative (for any upscale brand). I won't go into why but one example is to publicly state she is buying 40 of something she is currently selling. That sets her up for a lot of questions from us peons out there hoping to buy one or two.... that is, IF the statement is true.
I have two GILI items. I really like them but they were purchased on sale and probably worth what I paid, but no more. The quality is good, but....

Yes, someone has to clear them out of inventory.

I did not see the show, but I do not believe being a good salespreson requires being dishonest.

Saying she bought forty for gifts is one of the most ridiculous things ever said.

She never said *when* she bought them (it could have been off - air), but yeah, really tactless to say she bought so many. Makes her (and QVC by extension) out of touch, given today's economic environment.
