Re: Fun thread: what do you call the thing with wheel in Supermarkets?

Being from Ohio I call them carts or shopping carts, but here in  NC they call them buggies.

New Englander here. Shopping cart or cart for short is what we have always called them. Never heard the term buggy/ie for them before.

I live in the deep South and we call it a "BUGGY". But in other parts of the USA it is called by different names. I read that in the UK it is called a "TROLLEY".  Just for fun, tell what you call the thing with wheels you put your groceries in at the Supermarket. And put where you are, such as: Midwest, New England or where ever. Thanks.

@mormel20   I personally call it a buggy, but I hear most people here call it a shopping cart.  So maybe I got it from my mom, who was from NY.  We are in South Florida.

Here in western Maine it's a cart. I do hear it called a buggy once in awhile.

That's all I have ever known them to be called.  I have lived in NY & NJ now in PA.

When I think of a "buggy" I get an image of a stroller (which is what I call a baby carriage) in my mind.
