@Johnnyeager wrote:For the life of me, I can't figure out why a handful of posters think that this subject should be verboten. There is questioning and speculation every single day on these Forums about a myriad of subjects. No one indicated that they know exactly what happened. I am at a loss to comprehend how this offends some.
As for the tragic and painful loss of life, every single comment has been thoughtful, compassionate and respectful.
@Johnnyeager Agree.
You can do you but I strongly suggest not taking the bait @Pearlee just threw out at you.
She is the one keeping the argument fresh; she knows exactly what was said because she agreedwith 2 posters who did not like this thread and gave her own dislike of these posts.
Let it be.

Some things just take care of themselves.
A little Christmas miracle.

This story is so sad. A young 21 year old employee passes away a week before Christmas and 2500 employees are out of a job.
2021 has been a really difficult year and this bad news is just too much.
I'm surprised that the retail news websites I read didn't even mention the QVC distribution center fire as this fire certainly will hit Qurate in the bottom line.
When I look at the photos and drone footage of the aftermath of the fire, it's hard to imagine just how big the fire was though.

Referring to women as hens is not necessarily an insult.
Hens are very productive creatures. They lay eggs that we eat for breakfast and use for many delicious baked and cooked foods. They raise millions of younger chickens that provide food for our tables and help keep our food supply going.
Their contributions might be compared to what human females do, too--every day around the world.
Referring to women as hens might be more of an insult to the chickens than to women.
Just sayin'.

QVC exists in this bubble where broadcasting news rarely cover them and retail news leave them alone (except for the glowing, biased reports from the National Retail Federation for which Mike George sits as board member). QVC executives have abused their power for years, not being held accountable for the actions to a voiceless customer base or the ambivalent press.

Federal fire investigators will also enter when asked by local authorities who may lack resources, equipment and expertise. Due to the massive size of this Edgecombe County officials requested the aid of ATF specialists.

@TY I have not read this entire thread, but wanted to say that I have seen this twice on the NBC national evening news. I believe they showed it on the Today Show, too. I also read about it on CNN online.
I just did a Google search and see articles in the New York Post, The New York Times, USA Today, NBC News and others.

@SilleeMee wrote:If it is arson, what would be the motive, I wonder?
A lot of arsonists do it just for their 'thrill' of watching the havoc they've created, with no concern/remorse for any lives lost or the danger they created for other human beings, including the first responders and firemen.
Shame on them and a lifetime of hell on earth if the investigators determine it to be arson, IMO.
My dear brother, SIL and their 2 young children, 4 & 6, barely escaped an arson fire at their home in the middle of the night, while sleeping.
The arsonist? Their grandmother with dementia who lived next door.
The house and all contents were destroyed, which could all be replaced, except for precious photos and momentos, etc.

I think that because it was the weekend that I didn't really pay attention to the main U.S. media news outlets on that Sunday. I got my covid vaccine booster on that Saturday and went to bed early as I was tired and slept in on Sunday.
The fashion and retail news websites I was referring to were Footwear News, Retail Dive, and Insider (formerly called Business Insider) as they have a Retail tab and none of them even mentioned the QVC warehouse fire.
I first read the news about the warehouse fire when I looked at Linda Moss' Homeshoppingista blog a couple of days ago. I just haven't been on the QVC boards very much for 2021.
