Farmer Jon's Popcorn - Iowa or New York

During today's Farmer Jon's presentation David said that the vendor rep in the studio Peter Causyn works for Farmer Jon's.  They also said as usual that it ships straight from the Iowa farm to your door.

Peter does more than work for Farmer Jon's he owns it according to his Linkedin page.  He resides in NY and also owns a couple restaurants.

I normally don't research like this but the last batch of Farmer Jon's that I received was shipped from NY and wasn't exactly fresh.

All presentations say it ships directly from the Iowa farm including the day long in person visit to the farm in Iowa on QVC last year.

Not sure these presentations are full disclosure and honest. Smiley Sad

Maybe the popcorn gets shipped from Iowa to NY, sort of like the Rastelli beef from the Midwest to NJ to Rastellis place.

That's what I figured that it ships from Iowa to NY as they're not going to grow corn most likely in NY so it's not true that it ships fresh from Iowa.

It was pretty stale last time, who knows how long it sits in a NY warehouse.

@rockygems123

Wow! I just went down an internet rabbit hole! Woman LOL

Jon Tiefenthaler is supposedly "Farmer John". The Farmer John webpage on QVC says he hired Peter Causyn to be the on air rep.

But, as you noted, Peter Causyn is the owner of Farmer John's since 2015. Yet the Farmer John's website makes it look like a 3rd generation company owned by the Tiefenthaler family.

And.....get this, Jon Tiefenthaler's LinkedIn says he owns Snappy popcorn (which I have bought from Amazon).

I haven't seen a popcorn presentation is quite a while. Peter has lost so much weight I don't recognize him. Guess he stopped eating the extra butter popcorn 😏

I know they used to do the whole, "Aw, shucks, Farmer John is out in the field pickin' the corn to make this delicious microwave popcorn so he can't be on air" Woman LOL

All this popcorn, can it be built on a web of lies? 😂

Jon Tiefenthaler must own the farm (Snappy) that sells all the popcorn to other companies and they brand it with their logo. (Guessing) 🤷

Love me some popcorn! 🍿 Sorry to hear yours was stale and that the company is losing quality.

That seems to be the way of American companies.

@MezzieStarr  Wow that's good rabbit hole digging lol!  Isn't it something?  I get romancing a product but the info presented isn't truthful at all.  Surprised they think it's OK to do that.

Peter looks different again, maybe you can see his video from today.

Love the picture of the doggie with the bowl of popcorn, so cute!

Yep it was the bagged stuff that was so stale this time, so on to other popcorns.

Maybe I'll try the Snappy popcorn, how ironic is that?! Smiley Happy

Got an order of Farmer Jon's  a couple years ago with plentiful kernels and hulls.  Went back to Orville Reddenbacher from the grocery store.  It's perfect.

Re: Farmer Jon's Popcorn - Iowa or New York

I'm guessing Farmer Jon is still involved in the process somehow or they wouldn't keep talking about the family or showing the footage of him working on the farm, which they did today as they always do.

The thing that bugs me about the popcorn presentations (with any vendor) is that they're always touting how their popcorn is non-GMO. Guess what? ALL popcorn is non-GMO or GMO free because it is a unique strain of corn that can't be produced through GMO methods. They might as well say the can openers are non-GMO.  Smiley Wink

I purchased some Farmer John popcorn about 2 years ago.....It was the only popcorn that I have ever thrown in the trash. It was a poor product.Every time I see it on QVC I have a hard time believing they are still selling it!!!

@MezzieStarr That is some incredible investigative rabbit hole work!!  I love Snappy popcorn- I've used it for years and I use it in my Westbend Stir Crazy popcorn popper and I make my own kettle corn, caramel corn and movie theather popcorn using Snappy Popcorn.  The yellow and white Snappy popcorn are both delicious and affordable- I make popcorn every week using it.  Its good to know that I don't have to try Farmer John's when its really Snappy in disguise Smiley WinkSmiley Very Happy

Doing your own research on what you believe to be dubious claims is never a bad thing.

Especially when a girl is trying to watch her wallet these days. 😉
