I truly apologize in advance if this has been brought up before, but as I read and post on the forums, I notice that a lot of threads will be discussing something and there will be someone saying to the effect of "if you don't like it, change the channel, don't buy it", etc. I know some subjects have probably been brought up numerous times, but some people may be new to QVC and the forums. Unfortunately some websites I regularly read have been infiltrated by people who aren't nice and like telling others what they're doing wrong. It's like being instructed and we are adults so I don't see where that is even warranted.
I know this is "complaining " in and of itself and I am sorry. I know I can ignore it, but I was just interested in others take on this. All in all though, this site is really interesting and there are so many witty and kind people here.

I can relate to your experience. A couple of months ago, I asked how TV viewers are able to locate and watch all of the new shows that appear regularly. I thought it was a simple question because I really don't understand the "how, when, what, and where" of discovering these new shows. I received responses similar to yours, and never did find the answer to my question. There are many kind, positive, smart, and thoughtful posters, and I do enjoy reading their posts. I'll leave my musings to that last sentence because I do appreciate what they bring to the forums.

I've been posting here since 2004 and I know what you're saying. I try to answer new posts as they are asked, but fail some time. The site has changed big time the last few months, we don't have as many bullies, but still have the know it alls and the holier than thous. LOL It's rare that we have really great discussions because of all the censoring and there is only a fraction of the people who even bother checking in here any more. All that being said, I still like posting here and most of the people are really nice.

I have been on this site since the beginning of the forums and the pages that preceeded it for chatting and posting messages on QVC's website.
I'll be blunt: For a new poster, this original post sounds like a try at pot stirring to me. Especially for someone familiar with chat and discussion boards. Just my take on it, I may be totally wrong, but just tossing the thought out.

@Sooner I don't understand. Is the OP potstirring ? How can anyone know ? I just assume the poster is writing in sincerity. It is troubling to think I'm just being used. Does this kind of dishonesty happen often ?

Hello, TNRatPack and welcome. ![]()
I'm sorry to say that usually, new posters with a low post count will be verbally raked through the coals, told that they're "up to something" and will generally be given the cold shoulder. Any questions asked by new posters will usually also be seen as "weird, odd, strange, stupid, dumb, ect." And then there are those who are just grumpy a lot and snark at posters with high post counts, too.
With that said, there are more than a few people on this site who are nice and snark at everything people say. I would recommend starting out in the Among Friends sub-forum on this site. It has a calmer tone over there and people tend to be friendlier over there, too. Hope you enjoy posting here and try to ignore the people who always think that you're posting with an ulterior motive. ![]()

I too am new to this "forum-thing" so welcome. And i too have found that there are some nasty (sorry...not so nice) people out there, but I find it best to just not respond to them because it will only lead to the thread being deleted and what's to be gained. I think there is enough room for all to express their opinions without being bullied by someone who doesn't agree.

Amen you are so right; I applaud you for saying this.

There are long-time posters who write "in sincerity" who are chronic/continual pot-stirrers. Difficult to say with certainty whether it is completely deliberate, but IMO it often is.
There are long-time posters who have been banned and/or those who have grudges against QVC and the forums in general, who come onto the forums as "brand new" posters when clearly they know what's up, have many people who seem to "know" this new poster, and target certain people or threads/ideas, start or jump into anti-QVC threads, and other obvious behaviors.
There are genuinely new posters, who sometimes are suspected of being one of the first two types of posters.
My suggestion for new posters is to READ a variety of threads on a variety of topics that catch your interest. Note the posters whose responses you enjoy and those whose responses you find unpleasant. Some people have the occasional hot button about a few things; others seem to post only to be unpleasant all the time. It's helpful to get an idea of who does what.
And I would suggest to any truly new poster that they do not take every post, on any internet forum anywhere, at face value. Not everyone is sincere, or truthful. It's just a fact of life.

The OP says they have been on the forums reading posts. They also state they participate in other forums, where (in their opinion) "not so nice" people post, telling others what to do, etc. So, the OP is aware of how forums work and how they are in practice. The types of posts on the QVC forums are not new to them.
Yes, this forum is just like any other. No different. Some people will like you and some won't. Some people will agree with you and some won't. Some people will be respectful and civilized, and some won't. But "wondering" isn't going to change the forum, the posters, or the OPs experience.
This forum, like any forum, is what a poster makes of it. Anyone who finds their experience on a forum severely negatively affected by how rude they perceive people to be might be happiest and most productive on a totally moderated forum (yes, even more than this one, lol).
