He ate the same way before he lost his wife.  And he's not the only food host who does that.

 

Maybe the food squisher takes it home.  That's how they used to claim the food, touching and tasting it.

Jayne and Ablerti were drinking the Serendipity 3 the other day, but nothing else. I wonder why they could drink those.
