The struggles of many with addiction and the ease which many feel alcohol or mind altering substances make life better.  I just don't think it adds anything to the program, nor does it make me not watch (To answer another poster).  I am merely stating my observations and my sensitivity.  That's all.

@soozer  So you're saying you're sensitive to a glass of wine on the table? I never see anyone drinking from the glass unless it's being presented, which I appreciate the description. If you're sensitive to it, then don't watch. I actually find it meaningless but I'm not sensitive to a glass of wine but it could just be grape or apple juice for all we know. I drink water from a wine glass, too.

I think it is just for effect, maybe appearing cool as wine is the trendy thing to do. or to relate to the TV audience.  whatever it takes to sell a product.  Just my thoughts.

@spiderw , I think you're right. They don't do anything without a reason , and I think they want to attract the " mommy wine culture folks ."  I'm sure they didn't just plop a wine glass down because it looks pretty.

I do think they have toned it down recently, even being careful to say "grab your wine or anything else...it doesn't have to be alcohol".    But it was definitely overkill at the beginning pushing it.     Making it the highlight of the show as they were doing when they weren't even selling it was really reckless imo....and tacky.     They sure didn't transition to it very smoothly.    it reminded me of cigarette ads telling people how cool it was to smoke.

@banned again  are those the only ones you found? This comes up almost every two months. Wonder why some people think that it's real wine?

Now I'm wondering if Matt Dillon, Festus and the gang of Gunsmoke drink real whiskey? I watch at lease 5 episodes a day. Never bothers me.

@Sage04   You might be interested in knowing Festus, played by Ken Curtis, and my dad were boyhood friends.  They both lived on ranches in Colorado.  They met a few years ago when Curtis played in a celebrity golf tournament here.  Dad walked up to him and he instantly recognized dad, although they were both then old men.  They had a good visit.  Both gone now.

@Kachina624  wasn't he something? I love that man. They are on three different chanels and I just can't resist watching. He was a great actor and you can tell he got along with people. Who could resist?
