@rms1954  Not a 'female to female', but heard David call the female vendor of 'Pot Stickers' "sweetie" yesterday on ITKWD. I don't think she was offended. 

On a personal level, it really doesn't bother me.

I think it's regional slang and what one of us feels is normal, another one feels the opposite.  Where I was raised, everybody was "guys" or "you guys."  Then I moved to another part of the country and said "you guys" and everyone was offended.   Why?

I'm in Maryland, and hon (or hun as we pronounce it) is part of the everyday vocabulary. Probably would not want to come here if you don't like it! 

 

But hon, babe, girlfriend, etc. those terms have been taken over by the MLM community so if I see an online post that begins with any of those, it usually means someone is trying to sell me overpriced merchandise or recruit me as a seller. If you don't like MLM/direct sales, those words are considered extremely annoying.
