The reviews for this are brutal.  One even says it can't get wet, which seems like a deal killer if you need it in rain/snow.

Is it a rip-off?

Re: Does the Halo Bolt work?

I have never exposed it to water, but yes it works.

My DH used it on his boat when his outboard wouldn't start.  He would have been stranded.

He has started up our lawnmower after it sat all winter and the battery was low.

My son has jumped friends cars that wouldn't start.

so yes, it works.

40 people called in with nothing but good things to say on TSV day.

7 people wrote bad reviews most of which did not buy the item ( which QVC shouldn't allow reviews from people who did not buy the item) they either had old ones or certainly didnt get this one yet. I can't understand why they did that. It may even be the same person writing a few of them, who knows.

Of course you can't have running or standing  water on any item like this. Its electronic.

Nope...not a rip off.  It's the real deal.

I have used it to start a car and I use it during power outages to turn on a lamp.

Re: Does the Halo Bolt work?

It works. It's saved us a couple of times with their compressor (beats having to pay for air at the gas station!), and I saved a lady in a monster-sized SUV one night in a parking garage. AAA quoted her 45 minutes to an hour before they could be there. Jumped her SUV in 5 mintues, and she was on her way home to her family for dinner.

We've also used it to charge devices at outdoor events -- for both attendees and volunteers.

Of course, we've never used it in or around water.

All I know is my battery died and a coworker tried hers to start my car.  Didn't work.

Yes, they work.  We purchased & gifted 5 of the bolts last Christmas. My DH has used his no less than 6 times within the past year to help other's start their vehicles along with putting air in several flat tires including mine. Definitely worth the purchase.

@longtimeqvcwatcher .  Yes it works.  My son used it plenty on his car and I used it on my battery.  Then just last week our lights went out and I used it for my portable fan.  Lights were out for about 3 hours in the middle of the night.

Re: Does the Halo Bolt work?

The vendor was asked that question about whether it can get wet. She said it is not waterproof and you shouldn't drop it in a pool or anything, but a little drizzle or snow would be okay. I can testify to that. I jumpstarted my car with it in nasty freezing rain and it did get slightly wet but still worked and years later it still works.
