yes, I imagine it happens when QVC wants to alert people to upcoming products. I also cannot help but note one poster, who goes after anyone with a complaint, putting down the person in a defensive tone that would have no reason unless the poster has a tie to QVC. I rarely notice poster names, but I have learned to ignore that guy, who probably works for QVC.

There are companies that will promote a business on Facebook for a fee. It's not a stretch that people get paid to stir up interest in a product on shopping chat boards. Whether they are affiliated with QVC or the vendor or it's just coincidence, it's QVC that makes the rules and can apply them however they see fit on these boards, so who of us really knows what is actually going on from week to week.
I haven't noticed this, not saying it hasn't happened, it's just not on my radar screen and never influenced my shopping.

@Kardi wrote:some posters on these forums are QVC employees who advance the idea of a certain type of product to stir interest and weeks later theQ then may feature the same or similar product? I'm wondering because several weeks ago someone posted about how they love a little tool to exfoliate and remove fine facial hair. I checked it out on another site but today, voila, theTSV is the same thing just more expensive with more bells and whistles. This wasn't the first time I've seen this happen.
No I don't. I think it is just coincidence. The number of people who post here regularly is miniscule compared to the millions of customers that QVC has. Of that miniscule number, I doubt that most read every single post so the visibility is less than miniscule. In addition, just because someone on this forum, even an employee who knows a product is coming soon, says they like something is no guarantee that others are interested in that product or would buy it based on one poster's opinion.
Based on the posts that I read, there is limited agreement on anything, especially a particular product. If someone is trying to stir interest, posting something here most likely would backfire because there is never a shortage of people who will register their dislike for products.

@KingstonsMom wrote:Some of the overzealous 'Brand' defenders sure make me wonder sometimes.
IMO, they get too upset if anyone says anything less than glowing about their favorite brand, that surely they must be major stockholders of that brand......or family, friends, etc.
Yes and there is definitely something off about it... very blatant brand loyalty to the point of denigrating anyone who doesn't worship at the feet of their dearly beloved smacks of something being off....

Yes, this would be a tough forum to plant a positive review of a product as a marketing strategy. One can post the most uncontroversial statement and within 3 responses get someone who calls you ridiculous and wants to get into a verbal rumble, let alone the fireworks if you say something overtly positive or negative about certain brands. Granted these threads aren't left to go on for pages like in the old forum or get as vicious, as the mods close threads that get too argumentative, but once a few posters start quoting and arguing, I forget what the thread is about.

Anything is possible. It doesn't bother me one way or the other.

I do sometimes wonder about some of the cheerleader's that post on specific vendor forums. I guess I find it hard to believe that someone would actually buy a article of clothing that is not a basic like a t shirt and buy one in every color and buy everything the vendor sells. REally? You bought a jacket in 5 colors and a necklace in 3 colors?

No; it wouldn't gain QVC anything, for a variety of reasons others have stated.
However, just as it occurs on Amazon and other online retailers, I'm sure that product reviews and certain rah-rah oom-pa-pa hysteria regarding branded merchandise involve money.
There are certain key phrases that are tip-offs as far as reviews, as well as a vagueness to this type of "review" - "It's great! I'm really pleased with it. I'm going to go out and buy five more." This could apply to a sweater, a candle, a set of dishes or a dog bed - it could apply to most anything. Those are either paid reviews, or I give them the same level of importance as if they were.

Yes. We've seen examples with beauty products where the company sent out sample TSVs and the recipients came here to post about how wonderful the TSV is. IMO that was wrong for them to send out freebies then have the recipients post here.
One of the frequent LR thread starters has posted she's a friend of LR's friend. Another person often posted photos of new clothing items (with item numbers) before they were published on the website. Several examples of posters with the inside scoop. If they aren't employees, they have some sort of access not availabile to the general public.
