Re: Do we have to look at Christmas for 6 months?

I refuse to watch Christmas shows.  It's been ages since I saw Q offer something new, creative, and exciting....it's all the same as last year, the year before, the year before that, and years before that.   I don't know how the hosts can stomach it.

I don't either... and I also don't know how some of those who have been viewing for years and years can keep watching the same array of stuff presented over and over...  Aside from the occasional really beautiful set, there is no reason anymore for me to watch QVC's holiday programming.

Nothing makes me change the channel faster that seeing Christmas Cr*p being sold on QVC, not only now, but all the way up until Christmas.

Maybe they still have inventory from last year to dump.  Saves me money cause I have no interest.

Maybe?  No maybe about it.  It would appear they still have inventory from five years ago to dump...  And their M.O. never changes from holiday season to holiday season...  Can't wait for those 'stocking stuffers'...

The set of 5 flashlights was a lunchtime special yesterday!  LOL

No one here said they hate Christmas.  I love Christmas.  AFTER Thanksgiving.

QVC has had x-mas in July for as long as I can remember.  But, they used to do a day of x-mas in July programming and then they changed it to a weekend of x-mas in July.  Now, they had all day x-mas programming July 1, they've had a number of x-mas programs throughout the entire month and this weekend is the official x-mas in July programming.

Once QVC does x-mas in July, it's full steam ahead for x-mas programs.  We will see at least one day every month dedicated to x-mas programming.  At the rate they've been going, I suspect we will see holiday programming sprinkled throughout the months through December.

When QVC can no longer guarantee holiday delivery, and everyone else is in the midst of full-on holiday celebrations, every tree and x-mas bauble will be stripped from the sets and it will look like any other day at the Q.

After Thanksgiving leaves only three weeks until Christmas, not nearly enough time to buy presents, decorate, prepare for it, bake, etc., especially if one works outside of the home, etc.  Maybe July is a bit early, but I will watch this weekend, and if I buy, I know that I will be paying less compared to prices down the line.

I work outside the home and do all that.  I personally find excellant deals after Thanksgiving and closer to the holiday.  But, I don't have a lot of people to buy for either and no children.

My thing is, I don't want people stuck with what I bought them because I bought it so early they can't return it if it doesn't work out, the size doesn't work, etc.

Plus, the hot toys aren't even out yet for the kids/grandkids.  I also feel sorry for people buying some of these toys from shopping channels thinking their grandkids are going to want them because the hosts are telling them they are the latest/greatest thing.

QVC can do whatever programming they like, but I can choose what I watch and personally I don't plan to watch it unless I want to.

Hi @hyacinth003

QVC's Christmas in July gives deeper meaning to the oft heard phrase: "Christmas has become so commercialized."  I don't watch.

I can't stand it at all so I don't watch. I get the feeling that QVC is struggling a little, because this kind of programming just seems like they can't get rid of old inventory anymore, using their old business model. If they can't get rid of the old, then they can't get much new. i've seen it in B&M ... then they go out of business.

@skuggles: I tend to agree. The majority of products appear to be leftover inventory, and the premature and aggressive Christmas selling smacks of desperation.
