It's true that some of the reviews said they had an issue with the fit, but they also said they were returning it. You won't be charged for the return shipping because it's defective, nor will your original S&H be deducted from your refund. Just mark the slip "Defective".
Your choice but, if it were me, I'd find a way to package and return it, rather than losing the money for something you're not happy with.
Or the Mod has given you a good idea about replacing it and then sending back the defective one.

Wrap it in bubble wrap then put it in a poly Q bag.
In my opinion, if it arrives back to Q smashed up, it is their fault!
The item is defective anyway, no?
Maybe this sounds callous, but with the circumstances being what they are, just let it go.
Q will be cooperative on this and if not, file a dispute with your cc company.

I'm sure you can find another box if you do much online shopping. It doesn't have to be a QVC box. Even if you have to use UPS to package it for you, your cost will be refunded by QVC since it is defective.
