I have ordered several clothing items from As Is and they have all been fine until today. I received a pair of shoes that were clearly defective. Sole not glued on properly and dent across top of shoe. I can clearly see why someone returned these. Question is, has anyone had this happen and how do I return without being charged for the return shipping?

When you return an item as defective, you should not be charged return shipping.

@Catch71. Even an "as is" item, if defective, should not incur a return shipping charge.

@Catch71 - Just to add one more confirmation to the previous responses, you can return ANY item if it is defective. I've had to do that more than once with "as is" items.

Even a "final sale price" item can be returned due to defect, though you'll have to contact customer service for assistance. (And the one time I needed to do that, they just told me to keep the item and gave me a refund because it was only about $15.)

Good luck!

@Catch71 - If you can, before you box them up to return, take a photo or two as evidence of their condtion.

Even "As Is" items are not acceptable, if they're defective or damaged.

Mark the return slip ticking the "Defective" box under "Reason for return" and, if you want to, email the Social Team and attach a photo, to make sure you're not charged return shipping (and that the original shipping isn't deducted from your refund, if they weren't free shipping).

I think you have to call cs and ask that they remove the shipping charges because they are defective.

@Catch71

That is bad.  I don't see why they even sent these out to you -- they shouldn't have!  I would definitely contact CS and tell them the issues and ask them what they would like you to do.  Hopefully, they want a picture of the damge and you can just throw them away.  Why should you have to go through the hassle of returning them?  And surely you can't be expected to pay for S&H to do so????  Let us know what happens, will you?  Very curious.  I have ordered quite a few things through "as is" and only had one problem and I did have to return the item because it did not work.

@Catch71 - Well, I guess its my turn!  I've always been pretty lucky with things from As Is, even with shoes.

During one of the recent free shipping days I ordered a pair of Skechers suede clogs.

Got them today and they'll be on their way back tomorrow.  A buckle is missing and it's clear they were worn by someone with pronation from the wear on the soles plus the worn off logo on the inside.

I've already taken the photos!  I wouldn't have minded the beat up cardboard box, but I expected the shoes to at least be in reasonable condition.
