The problem is that no company can compete with Amazon.  I returned something to Amazon at Kohl's and the guy taking my return said that items go to to warehouses where a percentage of it is thrown away due to it being too expensive to sort through. Americans are addicted to easy and free returns so they keep shopping and returning due to no risk.  QVC cannot compete with that.

@shoekitty There isn't even ONE ITEM  that I'd be interested in buying from QVC last week.  As you mentioned, boring, boring, boring!

On the other hand, I've bought quite a bit from HSN.

They had a few Nina Leonard shows showing dressy clothes last week.  I found 3 outfits that I found attractive and well priced. Each was unique.  Not necessarily "cookie cutter" like so much I see on QVC.

Each was wrapped beautifully.  Quality excellent with  "full fashioned" details on the knitted items.

I'll keep 2 outfits as both were very pretty on and easy to care for.

Unfortunately, the midi-length sparkley dress (that was very pretty) was too big and too "heavy" for me to feel comfortable wearing.  I'm small in stature and the material on that dress wore me down with its weight.  I bought a Medium and was thinking of exchanging it for a Small; however, I think I'm better off sticking to separates so I can adjust the fit for both pieces instead of wearing a one-piece dress.

All in all I was very happy with the Nina Leonard purchase I made.

I don't think it's economy entirely people are spending. They say their tight , complain about prices, but they spend.  CC debt has never been higher, and savings lower.  .  I think much of QVC"s troubles are a changing commerce. New ways of doing business as well. So many vendors selling instagram, websites.new ones popping up everyday!  For anything.   So many little start ups and small companies.  More so than ever before.  Also, if you think about it, QVC is more of a want than need website.  I do feel that their credit card, easy pay plans are a major reason people shop here.  It can't be entirely convenience people shop here, because all websites online are convenient, come to your door, offer easy pays. Most with cheaper or no shipping costs and faster delivery and returns. There is a certain trust and comfort with shopping here for many. I know I trust them. But as far as pricing, shipping costs, and delivery I can do better other places.

QVC does offer exclusive brands customers love and trust.
when QVC started the first 20 years they were a leader, and remember their wasn't much internet shopping until after 2000..with no internet, most people having cable or satilite qvc pretty much owned the shop at home business

things have changed . Competition is steep, and QVC's range of clothing brands are more limited now. Back 10-15 years ago there was way more selection in fashion, handbags etc.  now it's sort of become "generic" mostlY QVC generated.  House brands, house vendors

@Group 5 minus 1   I totally agree !   Amazon does make return easy , free shipping and, items received most often time the  next day.  Sometimes the same day !

i feel qvc is having many issues they need to work on lately.  I myself have had 3 seperate issues in the past few days.   I really dont like wasting my time to call, email etc to get things fixed .

@Kitty Galore I've only attempted to return Amazon purchases twice and both times I was told to keep the items after receiving a full refund. You can't get much easier than that!

I've always thought they must have quite a bit of waste with returns they can't resell.

@Estellee : Many companies find ways to get rid of "waste", donate to charities, which is then a tax deduction, sell to employees at low,low prices. And probably more ways then I can count. I have heard that some companies give some stuff "away" to employees w/a managers permission.

@pdlinda   I find just the opposite.  I can't find anything I like on HSN.  I have 25% off coupon and a coupon for free shipping and all I could spend it on is Vitamins.   Their clothing is boring, their shoes are even worse. I was looking at their boots to see if there was a boot I like.  Most of their shoes are by Journey the cheapest quality shoes ever.

Their electronics are inferior.   Yesterday they were doing a presentation of a tablet from Lansay.  I nevenrm heard of Lansay

The only thing I buy from HSN are Andrew Lessman vitamins

I think the fault lies solely with Q.

Q is like groundhog day. Doing the same thing over and over and refusing to change what it really needs to change won't improve their financial reports.

Many people, including me, have listed things that are going wrong but Q doesn't think enough of its customers to pay attention. Their financial reports show the idiocy and pomposity.

Q is at fault for refusing to focus on what it used to do best, competitive pricing, shipping, returns, speed, technology, and lines it sells.

@Estellee   Returns are built in the sales price.   The return fee of $6.95 is not unreasonable.  Just try maiing it back yourself.  It will cost considerably more.  The P.O just raised their prices again.
