David Venable started "Coffee Talk" during the pandemic. He does it Thurs. mornings on facebook & Fri. mornings on instagram. It's just been a nice way to chat, not sell anything, just chat...until today. I watched just long enough to hear him say that his chats will now stream live on qvc.com & they will post products that you might be interested in buying. I turned it off after that. Is nothing sacred anymore? Does it always have to be about the almighty dollar? Nevermind. I know the answer.

@bobby5

Considering DV is prolly one of the highest, quite possibly the highest in sales, I would not be surprised or upset at all.

Isn't this what retail sales is all about?  Yes, the Almighty dollar!  QVC employs thousands and thousands, mushrooms to delivery services as well.  Any chance to add sales, seems like a good business move to me.

I don't doubt he gets tons of messages requesting info about products all the time.

Every recipe blogger I have seen has ads or buying links all over the place.

@bobby5  I don't really mind the products being posted. I watched Coffee Talk early on during the pandemic, because there was less to do outside of the house. I just watched it again today and tried both platforms. Let's face it, QVC and David, as a salesperson for QVC, are there to sell product. I don't mind seeing the products on streaming, but  watching on FB is less distracting (I watched on my TV). David has always talked about QVC items during Coffee Talk. Sometimes I would go to QVC.com to check out a particular item. The live stream chat makes it easier to shop.

BTW: David kept mentioning Lidia's Polish Pottery and claimed it was from Lidia Bastianich. I don't think it has anything to do with the famous chef and restaurateur. If that's the case, it's kind of a glaring mistake for a seasoned host.

Wow @PA Mom-mom

I am also surprised he blew that one!  I have a few pieces of Lidia's pottery.

Beautiful!

Hello, my name is Lidia Giske and I run my business with my daughter Anika. I grew up in Boleslawiec Poland, where Polish Pottery is made. There are quite a few different factories, but the factory that we carry is very special to me. My brother opened Ceramika Kalich in 2001, where he began producing unique patterns and shapes. The factory is a small family owned business, whereas some of the larger factories have hundreds of workers, Ceramika Kalich only has 25. With a smaller factory the artists really focus on quality over quantity. We work with the artists to bring some of our ideas to life, so that they can be enjoyed by all. I grew up using Polish Pottery, and now it has made its way into my children's homes. If you have not tried Polish Pottery before, I hope that you try out one item and see the quality and beauty for yourself. If you are already a collector, we hope that you enjoy our selection of items and see how they pair and stand out with your existing items.

Since QVC is David's employer they can request that Coffee Talk, which probably got lots of viewers, to be on QVC plus.  This adds traffic to their streaming platform.

As with any other Podcast (I would consider Coffee Talk to be a Podcast) there are sponsors to be promoted.

Lidia Bastianch is joining QVC  soon with her products. Maybe he just had her on his mind as he was talking this morning.  He was a little off with all that coughing. He also seemed a bit apprehensive about the addition of Coffee Talk on the other streaming platforms.
