Look at the requirements. What they are looking for is a good actor or actress playing the role of a sales host. That's how I view the hosts. Each show they do is a performance. Some hosts are good at acting, some are not.

Interesting...however nowhere on the hiring criteria
does it say...
*Must have a loud, obnoxious voice
*Must be able to bore viewers with family stories
*Must act like a young, ill mannered child
*Must use trendy phrases like -I just can't
*Must be able to make up words that mean nothing
*Must be able to talk about everything except the product being sold

@Puppy Lips I think they deserved that raise working for you. They were loyal to you and did their job. They shouldn’t have reasons to make you more money that’s your job.

How interesting this is: what the Q's plans are for the organisation. They have completely changed what the Q once was. For those waiting for one day, when it will be once again what it was, news, it ain't happening.

I would love to do research on all of this, but I have some other research that takes my free time.

But I will certainly read all the happenings on this forum. Thanks for all keeping us informed.

@febe1 QVC was always built on the premise to be an entertainment sales company. They even had game show producers on the board at one time.

They used to do those raffles with the little balls swirling around like the daily lottery. They used to dress up in Gold Rush western costumes during the Gold Rush gold jewelry days. They sang Christmas songs and read Twas the Night Before Christmas every year, the list goes on & on.

It's just that "entertainment" today is different than it was 30 years ago. But it was always what they tried to do.

@RescueLover Well I guess you have never owned or run a business. You are saying the owners (the ones who took a huge risk to start a company) should work harder and perhaps make less money so they can give their employees a raise? Employees are an expense. We are not going to continually give employees raises "just because." If a company can better balance their budgets by reducing expenses, then that is what they should do. When UPS got too expensive for us, we went to a less expensive shipper. Should we remain loyal to UPS just because we had used them for years? Companies have to get the best bang for their buck, and that includes employees.

Well how about all the years she gave you her time.

If you only had her as an employee, you must not have had a business that was busy enough to attract others wanting to even apply there.

Sounds like you weren't very appreciative in having this poor girl there at all.

Hope she left for someone who appreciated her.

I agree with @RescueLover . If you value a loyal worker, you should be the one to give raises without being asked. As far as owning a business, my mother owned a business for 40 years until she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The reason she held on to her employees and didn't have a revolving door, was because she treated them fairly, respected the hard work they did for her and she rewarded them for it with yearly raises.
