Yes you are way off base.

Well we do know that QVC has an older base of customers. And you might be surprised to hear how your voice sounds to others. I know I sound way different than I think I do. I think older women might be thrilled to talk on air. But us younger folks (in our 60's) may not be inclined to do so. I know way back when I used to call in my orders, I was asked if I wanted to talk on air. That was a big fat NO for me. I don't think they take as many calls on air as they used to. That is a good thing because they serve no purpose for the viewing audience, except maybe getting someone else to buy, and a time filler for the hosts.

@DrumPounder I noticed that too. I don't remember ever hearing anyone young calling. I'm not saying they don't but the majority of callers seem to be over a certain age.

It does seem to be the older people who have the time to sit on hold and wait until the host gets to them on the phone. Probably some are lonley and it gives them someone to talk to as so many times they give TMI and go on and on until the host actually cuts them off, LOL........The callers are totally unnecessary IMO.

I've heard callers of all ages. Some share how a particular item is perfect for their work. Teachers, even an airline stewardess once. I've heard health care workers call for Philosophy's Amazing Grace, sharing how their patients often complement the light fragrance. And more examples of younger viewers.
But, there are more seniors who call. I imagine this is because they have more time to sit and wait for their call to be taken. They're not running like squirrels to get ready for work, or other pressing activities. They're retired. Most younger folks, in today's rapid pace world, don't have time for such.

I think it's time to end taking calls.

I don’t mean this in an insulting way, but why do the callers sound ancient? They sound like they must be 100 years old! Are they calling from nursing homes? I keep waiting for a younger caller, like maybe an 80-year-old.
I’m 61, which isn’t exactly young, and my voice doesn’t sound like that. At least, I hope it doesn’t … omg, what if it does? Do I sound like that on the phone? Do the callers know how old and creaky they sound? Am I way off base?
@DrumPounder I don't see a point here except to criticize older people for talking. Which to me is odd because you are older too. What is the point here?

@DrumPounder Here we go. A new poster whose first post is something snotty. And yes you are off base.

I remember setting up my voice mail at work years ago. Played it back and was astonished at how awful I sounded to myself. LOL
