I was going to purchase crab cakes on line. The crab cakes were 6-5oz for &95.00. The prices of shipping was $31.00. Total bill $126.00. I think the price is so high due to the price of Dry ice.   Dry ice is very expensive. I didn't buy them.

If I wanted crab cakes, I would go to a local restaurant  and order.  Is that even more pricey per cake?  Yes, of course, but I have a much better chance of liking what I was eating and I'm not committing myself  to more similar meals.

I do share food sometimes with neighbors - but that is likely to be excess fresh fruit or veggies sold in a quanitiy neither or us could use up alone.  I don't know one person who would accept crab cakes even if I make them myself.

@millieshops Several restaurants have taken them off the menu due to the fact they are too $$$$.

@Rosebud 06 I was going to send crab cakes as a gift but the price was too high. What I did was, I am a member of COSTCO and I was able to send them 2 pounds of jumbo lump crab for half the price of 4 crabcakes. This also included shipping.

The price of these crabcakes (like ALL the food QVC sells) is BEYOND RIDICULOUS and a TOTAL RIP-OFF. I make my own, so I know EXACTLY what.s  in them. These crabcakes probably have fillers and LOTS of sodium.

If you want authentic crab cakes order them from one of Baltimore's best restaurants, some ship them. If anyone wants names just let me know here.

I could make my own crab cakes but I’m not going to.

i usually do not eat crabcakes that are made outside of the delmarva area....if it is, i generally dont consider it an authentic crabcake.

a pound of jumbo lump crabmeat is running about $30 from out of the country, about $35 or less from another state, and about $40+ if it is from maryland/chesapeake bay. not even cheap to make them on your own.

At a lot of restaurants in the Delmarva area you will see them listed for MP. That gives me pause, as I know they will be expensive.

I haven't made them from backfin meat in a while.  Smiley Sad
