Say Yes to the Dress" and now this, I'd say the Q is hoping to use this opportunity to attract a younger, more social viewer, and that she has a pretty smart agent. How all of that translates to sales is the part of the equation I'm not getting. But, they're business model has to change in order to keep up with changing shopping habits and demographics.
You'll notice most of the older hosts, Lisa being the exception, pretty much keep it on down-lo.
Interesting.
I don't mind seeing pics of her wedding AFTER it's over and if she chooses to post them on the QVC blog. What I don't care for is the "celebrity" aspect of the whole thing. And I don't believe for a minute she's going to "let" QVC viewers help select her groom's wedding ring!
Your post is interesting to me because DD is a few years younger, and I never thought of it that way. It definitely is a generational thing, starting with all of the REALITY contestants. How many go on shows just to get the fame? Probably quite a few.
So maybe Courtney is QVC's hope to reach the younger generation. I got the impression they were training her to be the next "Lisa." Who knows?
I don't mind hearing about the hosts' families and everyday life IF it is not constant. I enjoyed hearing about Pat's daughter and Mary Beth's son graduating. I can relate to them. They did not talk about only that constantly, and if I wanted more information, I could read their blogs.
As far as the recent new moms go, I prefer Gabrielle's journey over Amy's. She talked about her pregnancy some, but not constantly. Nothing against Amy - it's just me!
Does Courtney really want QVC viewers who wish to receive one have a copy of her wedding video? Shouldn't that be for friends and family?
I think they're approaching this the wrong way. Her publicists and/or managers believe most of us can't wait to be "participants" in her wedding. Are they right or wrong?
Courtney should just be a host who is excited about being a bride. I have no problem with her mentioning her upcoming wedding on air and I know sometimes it must be hard for her to contain her excitement - THAT I expect and I'm happy for her! She can blog about it!

We don't care QVC!!! Please don't throw this whole thing down our throats! We don't care. Please remember, U R a shopping channel!
P.S.: this will only fuel the fire for mean, hateful comments about Courtney. Please refrain from all this wedding discussion.

After a recent on-air profile view of a form fitting dress, she's given viewers reason to start those rumors now.

Add me to the list of not interested. I rarely watch QVC anymore and only shop online. When I worked full time I was only mildly interested in the home lives of my 60+ co-workers. I couldn't care less about a QVC host's wedding, living arrangements, babies, vacations, etc.

That home page pic is terrible of Courtney. She is a very attractive young woman and that angle is simply not flattering. Can't believe she signed off on that.
I agree. Her smile isn't usually so gummy. Add me to the list of those not interested in this person's wedding. They're overplaying it to a ridiculous level.

I really couldn't care less. She's an LR wannabe - not that that's a bad thing, but it's a bit too much already. Still I wish her the best of luck with her marriage!

I think it is tacky also. I hope she is not "asking" for gifts. I don't care for the girl.

I know I am a dinosaur, but I do not understand the current propensity for sharing details about everything with everyone.
Seriously, how many people really care about the details of anyone's wedding or anyone's life for that matter. Or, even what you had for lunch, or that you clipped your toenails or washed your hair.
Do everyone a favor and just shut up.

Thank you for this very accurate post! I don't do any of the social media traps for the same reasons - nobody cares what I had for lunch except maybe my DH if I ate the last piece of pie! For me, the joy of having a private life is that it is PRIVATE!
