Dont let your hosts and guests struggle with coughs. Let them have some water!!!
If they're really sick send them home but really those lingering coughs are hard to get rid of. Poor Peter Thomas Roth was a mess, couldnt get through a sentence. Sandra's co host David saved her by bringing her some water- good guy.

There has been a coughing scourge making the rounds this Fall and Winter. The cough comes and STAYS, ugh. Even with all the vaccines and preventative shots DH and I got, this year we both ended up with the " coughs. "
While at lunch with my good friend last week at a busy diner, I had been talking so much that the coughing started up. I had been drinking my water but ran out. Then the scary choking cough fit started in earnest. I almost was getting up to find a waitress when one was walking by to take drinks to a far table. I intercepted her and when she saw my uncontrollable coughing, she immediately handed me one of the water glasses. Absolute relief ! My friend was stunned by how quickly things escalated.
Please, if you see or hear someone coughing uncontrollably when out, please get them some water. Believe me: they are going to panic when they think they can't catch their breath !!!

Keep a tissue in your pocket in case you have to wipe your nose. Don't use your hand (Shawn).

I have allergies and cough a quite a bit. I usually squeeze out "I'm not contagious" when around groups of people. ![]()

Shawn is not wiping her nose. She has allergies and her nose is itchy. Tissues make the matter worse with tissue lint blowing around.
I know many people who have this problem. One was my late brother. He was this way from birth. Between the pollen in PA and the dust and lint from products and fabrics, it can drive a person insane with itchiness.
Be thankful you do not suffer from this condition. It is truly awful and embarrassing.

@Carmie - Whatever the reason, itchy nose or not, using your hand can still transfer bacteria and/or viruses. It's also not a good optic on tv and definitely not hygienic.
If tissues are a problem, a good old-fashioned handkerchief would be better than using her hand to continually wipe (scratch?) her nose. JMHO (And I also have allergies. I'm sure many of us do.)

I have allergies as well, but they don't bother me 365/24/7. I feel sorry for the people who suffer constantly.
There is very little they can do when meds and injections aren't helpful.
If her coworkers and vendors can deal with it, I can too.
Sometimes, we just have to forgive those who have medical issues that gross us out. They don't have a choice.
A handkerchief wouldn't help much...it too, would be in her hand with germs on it.

I started with a cough on Thanksgiving and by that night I was sick. Body aches and weakness but no sore throat. I spent 3 straight days in bed. A week later I still have the cough and don't feel up to par. I went to the doctor and was tested for both the flu and covid and both were negative. But I'm just as sick as if I had one of them. Doctor said there's a bunch of nasty viruses out there.
