I know many people go all out for Halloween. I used to host a big party for myself, but haven't done so in years. I miss doing it, but just so much work.
DH would spend weeks decorating everything. Rigged up stuff outside to scare people. Fog machines everywhere. We are in the woods and would make people walk to the house down a winding road!
How fun that you travel on that day. I know Salem might be interesting, but gruesome too. Sleepy Hollow was always a favorite story, but scared the heck out of me as a child.
We've done a couple of "ghost walks" in our area. Point Lookout which was a Confederate prison camp. And, Sotterly Plantation which is one of the oldest planations still standing.
They both do dramatic productions around Halloween using local actors. Both of them a bit unnerving ![]()
Have fun whatever you do!

I can't believe it! I've never heard of Sotterly Plantation & I live in VA, 20 miles south of Washington, DC, it's practically in my back yard!!!!! I checked their website and I'll definitely making a trip to see it!

This weekend is the big winefest at Sotterly! Today might be the better day as I think it might rain tomorrow.
I've been several times and it is wonderful. They don't do tours this weekend, but you can see the house and grounds....and enjoy lots of wine.
Bring a designated driver if you go![]()

Witchy Woman:
I saw that they were having a wine festival this weekend. Unfortunately we already have plans for the weekend. I'm a big fan of wine though!!!!!

This is my theory: The Q has likely done market research on this subject. This must indicate that having a Christmas tree in the background has a subliminal effect on the viewer to buy-buy-buy!!
I'm surprised there isn't subtle Christmas music playing in the background as well!

It's no wonder that by Dec. 25 many of us are all "Christmased out," and the holiday almost seems anti-climactic by then...

I think it would be nice to have festive Fall sets, like another poster mentioned. Yesterday a Fall Temptation piece was being shown with a Christmas tree looming in the background, didn't seem right. We all know when Christmas is. You can sell your products and mention the holiday, but don't have to have the set all decked out for Christmas already. Lets enjoy the Fall for a bit.

@tototwo wrote:Wow. @TheMemphisVette - you took the time to count every Christmas-complaining thread? I replied to some of them because I agree completely. After all these 30 threads since July, I wish QVC would read them and cut back on the early Ho-Ho-Ho's a little bit. This time of year I'd rather see sets decorated for autumn, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. I saw a Christmas tree on a QVC set the other day and quickly changed the channel. I haven't watched QVC since.
I love Fall decorating and I don’t know why QVC doesn’t decorate the sets instead of these Christmas trees in October. It’s defin over kill!

The Q should set up yet another channel, call it "QVC Christmas," and sell Christmas items all year long.
And the BB stores should have separate departments that are decorated for Christmas all year and do the same.

countless repeating.
same ole same ole.
only 30? i could have sworn there were more! ![]()
obviously the holiday season brings in a lot of money for qvc, so why SHOULDNT they begin with the holiday shows? they dont bother me at all. i am one of those people who begin shopping right after the holidays for the following year.
believe it or not, qvc is in the business to make money, not necessarily to entertain all people all the time.

I can't control what QVC or the other TV shopping shows do. I only can control what I do: that is won't watch or buy from them.
I also can't stand hearing the word GIFT being said every 2 seconds.
