Re: Christmas in July...Yay or Nay???

July is a week away!! They're even rushing the silly premise of Christmas in July. I'm usually fed up with commercial Christmas by the time 12/25 actually arrives.

Re: Christmas in July...Yay or Nay???

A big fat NAY!!  Christmas ceased being enjoyable/fun years ago.  I haven't had a tree since 1999.  I gave all my decorations/ornament away after I took my last tree down.

I would rather stick a fork in my eye rather than watch a sappy Hallmark Christmas movie. Boy/girl meet, problem ensues, problem solved, cue kiss and fake snow.

Christmas for me is watching Die Hard solely to hear the wonderful Alan Rickman say, "Ho Ho Ho" in that glorious voice.

NAY. MOST of the Christmas items are made in China junk with a high price tag.

Saves me a fortune when they show that stuff and not bags, jackets, and clothes so yay for me keeping my money.

Nay, because I think it's stupid 6 months in advance.

I got other places to shop from catalogs, Mall, etc.

Not listening to a bunch of jabber about stuff that doesn't concern me any more.

Waaay back to when I first joined these discussion boards, I made a similar derogatory comment.

A few people told me why it was so important to them, and put me in my place.

The poster explain she & her husband were seniors on a fixed income ... and had several grandchildren.  Being able to purchase various Christmas presents on easy pay meant they could buy presents for the grandkids and not be financially strapped in November and December.

I have to admit, I honestly hadn't thought about that.

So, the moral of the story is .... if you don't like CIJ, just go sit out by the pool and enjoy the summer heat.

Others really look forward to those shows for budgetary reasons.

It works for some. Some people like it. Some people don't like it. Different strokes for different folks. There us no reason to disparage those who don't like it.

@CalminHeart

So sorry if you were offended.  I don't think my comments disparaged anyone.
