Did anyone get a letter stating QVC is no longer going to do a check hold? I do use this service sometimes so I am dissapointed that this is being discontinued.

I assume it's being discontinued because people use it to just hold something until they decide if they really want it or not which stops someone shopping with an immediate form of payment from buying the item, color, size, etc.

We recently got back from vacation. About 2 weeks before we leave, if I order I use check hold. When we are 4 days from coming back I switch to a card.

I started doing this after I once ordered a comforter. They sent it UPS. After not being able to deliver it, UPS sent it back. I called, but there was nothing they could do and it was sold out.

This seems to be the best solution for me. I did ask QVC if they could guarantee USPS, and at the time they couldn't. If they could have guaranteed USPS there would have been no problem, as they hold our mail when we're away.

So this suits me. This time I had 5 orders on "check hold," 3 clothing items and two jewelry items. One of the clothing items, that was in stock when I ordered it, is now backordered. Everything else was shipped, but I haven't received anything yet.

So I hope they don't discontinue this, or if they do, they have some way of not shipping items right away for those of us who need it.

@beach-mom @ You do realize that even though you put on check hold that doesn't always turn into a sale..This is not a layaway shopping channel. I guess you will have to change your shopping to either send it to another address or wait until you are home to order..

I don't know any place that will allow you to put a check hold when shopping. They want an immediate sale. QVC was more than generous to allow this type of purchasing.

@elated - You're right. But I have been doing this for years. And it has always been OK.

The best option for me is to guarantee USPS. Sending it to another address is not an option, as our neighborhood empties out around the same time of year! We have no family within 7 hours, and I won't ask friends to come by when they live 30 minutes away.

If they change this policy I might miss out on some items I would like to have. I will not order a TSV item at a higher price - IF it's still available, which it probably won't be. So I will just have to live with it.

The other vendors I shop from don't have TSV's or anything like that of course, so in most cases there is no urgency to order. I did call once about a special sale I wanted to take advantage of. And customer service guaranteed USPS shipping.
