If either had "retired" there would surely have been the huge, elaborate cake and champagne and balloons shindig so many have been clamoring for.

Corporations just use what and who they can then eject you. Doesn't matter at all how well you did for them. No gold watch for you, but hopefully a very nice severance deal.

They posted farewells on their QVC social media account, and allowed to post about how to be contacted in the future.  Not many company's provide this courtesy to emplyees that are let go.  So I don't know why you assume they were escoted to their cars by security.  I don't think these employees were a threat to the company.

I was always skeptical when a host left "to spend more time with family."

And I always thought QVC was a benevolent company. They had a lot of hosts, and probably other employees, who had health situations, left for a while, and came back. Carolyn's cancer, Dan's heart problems, Mary Beth's car accident, and probably others. Would other companies do this?

 I'm still stumped why Rosina was hired and introduced, only to go on maternity leave right away. Why didn't they just wait until she finished her maternity leave to start her?

You don't get a party when you're fired and why in the world you want one? I'm sure the other 400 people didn't get a party either.

@Luvsmyfam  Based on their comments on their FB pages they were definitely let go.They didn't choose to retire.

My sentiments exactly! I didn't feel inspired to watch or spend at all the last few days.

I did choose to "shop" more at QVC for the comfort and familiarity feeling. I just find myself too disgusted at how it occured to really look at the experience the same anymore.

I found the way they departed sad for those that followed them on Q so many years, like you said.

As a woman in my 40s, I am still stuck on the ethics of Carolyn being laid off versus someone else. Not sure I will just skip over that and shop away.

People continue to comment about "business and corporate life", but the model QVC encouraged was connecting with the viewers and this interactive thing....

typically when a company lays people off or fires them they dont give them a public send off.  that typically happens when employees decide on their own to resign.
