Re: Anyone Watching Girl with Curves

Well surprisingly enough, the smaller sizes in her line are the ones that sold out. There are a couple of items I was wanting to see presented before I purchased, but now they are sold out in size medium.

Re: Anyone Watching Girl with Curves

I just don't see what the problem is with Amy hosting the show.  I saw some presentations and I think she did a good job.  She had a good selection of models and asked them to give their height and size they were wearing.  Amy discussed fit and colors and gave the info needed to make a purchase decision.  I don't think her size is an issue since.   All sizes need to be represented and they were.

Re: Anyone Watching Girl with Curves

It was an interesting choice to have Amy do the show because she is not just thin, she has no curves, as she herself acknowledged.  (Yes, it is possible to be thin with curves.)

But I don't think that should be disqualifying, since technically one shouldn't have to be a consumer to sell something.

But even though she is a fashion specialist, I don't think she is particularly good at it (she is fine, not good), and she was exposed when she was at a loss about what to do when the vendor had problems with her connection and Amy had to sell the clothes without the vendor.  She ended up asking the model what the model liked about the clothes.

Not sure I understand the point here ......   Is this line supposed to be for women who have curves, or for women who are rather heavy?

They carry all sizes.  It's just a brand name.  Presumably the styles are flattering on curvy women.  But whether something flatters is in the eye of the beholder.

Hey ladies, would it have been more appropriate to have Alberti host this show?  Any good host ought to be able to host any show.

Alberti is not a good host for women's fashions, so no.

Re: Anyone Watching Girl with Curves

I thought Amy was an odd choice but no matter who was hosting I did not care for the clothes.  I cannot believe that brand will be around for long.  I thought it was expensive and where I live in Florida I cannot imagine wearing that cape in public.   The other stuff was not that great to me.  I did see Jackie on saturday modeling a dress from that brand and it was very attractive on her.  So there are probably some pieces that will work.  I just think it was not a wow competing against the other brands already popular on the Q like Kim Gravel, Isaac, Denim & co.  etc...

Re: Anyone Watching Girl with Curves

This line looks very promising!  The cape nearly sold out in the black color.  I would have bought it myself (I love it), but I already have a similar cape in black already.  I get compliments on it every time I wear it.

I did get the square neck blouse, and the vintage jeans in the darker wash -- which quickly sold out in my size.

I agree @Caaareful Shopper very nice line.  Just a few pieces to start, but I thought everything was well done.  I bought one piece.  Hope they keep her.

I agree that it is an odd choice for a host and if I was the market target I would feel like a very petite and tiny host for "girls with curves" would be kind of like a slap in the face.

Especially when she insisted on modeling everything and turning this way and that.

Though to be fair the designer said she designed her brand to be for girls of every type. Though the name of it "Girls with Curves" I wonder if she originally meant otherwise. She said she never saw any of the models look like her (she had a brief stint in modeling she said).

But I think QVC obviously thinks Amy is a very good host and she does a lot of the primetime shows.

Amy said,

" It's high end. "So I don't want the prices to confuse anyone. Like this is what would be 3 digits out in retail."

Describing A452082.

I know this is probably the key phrases hosts are taught to say but I feel like they must still think QVC viewers are idiots who understand nothing.

I think some of her designs are nice but I looked up viscose -one of the fabrics she uses as do many designers-yikes who knew?

"Why is viscose bad?

Rayon (Viscose)

Not only is the production of this material dangerous, but wearing it can also be unhealthy. Rayon fabric can emit toxic substances that can cause nausea, headaches, vomiting, chest and muscle pain, and insomnia. In addition to all that, its production is heavily polluting the environment."-

It can also pill and be hot.

I'm sure if I looked, so many of our clothes would be made with this.

And others that are toxic. We probably would have to get rid of most everything in our closet. Maybe decades from now we will have better choices, or maybe worse.

So disappointing. I would hope designers would start to be more

health and environment conscious instead of hoping to showcase their  designs at the best cost for them.

I know I sound like a scrooge party pooper fill in the blank. I guess that is how I'm feeling today.

Just tired of clothing trying to be sold as so expensive looking and made so well but made from cheap, (or now we see unhealthy as well) material that is not worth what it is trying to sell for. And it will sell for "whatever the market will bear."

If you are in that market!

Thank you for your input.  Viscose is a nasty material and a fabric that's been around for quite awhile.  I won't buy it, won't sew on it and won't wear it.  Like a lot of fabrics being thrown our way recently.... not good, too thin, too mushy, too nasty for humans to wear.  Research the fabric prior to buying it, it'll tell you a lot.....Woman Indifferent
