A lot depends on the job level and contract if there is one. The higher the job level, the more PTO people earn. I had the max PTO hours allowed to be accrued when I retired and I was taking weeks off at a time. I'm wasn't about to lose PTO to a big corporation.

I dont understand these type of post yearly, especially in the summer.  Employee's do get, earn and negotiate for vacations.. Besides its none of our business.

I have been at my current job for 10 years, and I get 4 weeks paid vacation, 3 personal choice days, 8 paid sick days per year and we shut down between Christmas and New Years which is also paid and not part of our vacation.

So I would assume QVC has an excellent vacation program for their hosts. I bet they get at least 4 weeks, and the more seasoned hosts probably get 6 weeks vacation!

Well, if I'm a Qurate shareholder it is most definitely my business.

Accrual of the paid vacation days expense reported on financial disclosures is of great interest to me.

Don't get it  that Hosts are now constantly  saying " I can't wait to start my vacation " .

Is that making customers feel more special that the Host  can't concentrate on giving us the info we need abt an item because they are so wanting not to be at work ??

Guess, the concept is  similiar to the wait staff at a restaurant who expect a 20% tip  no matter their performance in just dropping food off at a table.....

As far as SK going to DC, well that town's crime rate has risen to a level that most that I know don't go there anymore for sight seeing  or to restaurants . Car jackings galore .

I have no desire to travel outside of the country or to any large city.

But, the hosts seem to love to travel and have the income to do so.

I'm sure they have a minimum of 4 weeks off yearly and feel safe on their excursions.

Now that we are retired, we are on permanent vacation! While working, my husband had 8 weeks of vacation time accumulated. He took all weeks off every year. Glad for all weeks of vacation hosts get.

Washington, DC from West Chester, PA is only a little over 2 hours away.  Many people go there for the day and drive back home again.  it's a day trip.

My daughter goes every year for the day to see the cherry blossoms....many people do.

It's not a big deal vacation.  I don't even know why Shawn mentioned it.

My nephew is a recent college graduate.  He negotiated 25 PTO (paid time off) days when he was hired for his first "real" full time job.  That could amount to 5 weeks vacation during his first year.

I always consider Shawn taking a vacation a good thing.  She should take more of them.Smiley Happy
