Shawn has been a hosts for a number of years. I would not be surprised if she is receiving at least 4 weeks a year, which is pretty standard.

She's going to Washington DC?  Must be a getaway weekend, possibly in Alexandria, VA. It's only a few hours from West Chester.

When I was working sometimes you had to work a year to get time off.  Now people earn time every pay period.  I know people that take time off as soon as they get it.  My generation or at least me I never asked for time off for a year.  I think people are smarter now.  When I did earn vacation time I loved taking Fridays and Mondays off.

The only time I cared about time off was when it was mine or my employees, and of course what the company's policies were.

DH just retired last year. He received 7 weeks per year vacation plus sick leave which he hardly used. He was Union/Assistant Manager. They wanted him to take the Manager position a while back but told them no since he would have a cut in pay plus be on salary, cut in leave, cut in insurance, pension. His Boss made less money only gets 2 weeks vacation. LOL!!!

Before I retired, I got 30 vacation days off each year which totaled 6 weeks.  I used to take weeks off at a time...sometimes 2 weeks, sometimes the whole month.

I don't think the hosts vacation is excessive.  Normally, the longer you work for a company, the more vacation you earn.

Honestly, I never give it a second thought when a host mentions a past or an upcoming vacation. I actually am happy for them.

With that said, to the posters that say it's not our business, I do somewhat disagree with that. If a host has a specific show they do regularly then THEY bring up a vacation destination, then it does become the viewers business. Many here look forward to certain hosts on certain shows. I think it is a reasonable question, just asking how many weeks a host may get working at the Q.

When I was working, there was never anybody available to fill in for me. People always asked where I was and when I would return. It was not offensive to me. I did have 998 hours of sick/vacation saved when I retired. I rarely took time off since I had more work to do when I returned than when I took off.

I am now retired but at my job I had 5 weeks vacation and 3 personal days.  Don't remember sick time, but I think it was a month.

Certainly time off from work is good, but do I need that information from a host...no
